Your adventure begins with an overnight stay in Johannesburg. Then off to Kasane, Botswana to board the luxurious Zambezi Queen, which takes you down the Chobe River in elegant accommodations. Enjoy two nights at Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Journey to Tanzania by way of Nairobi to begin your East African safari. Your safari days include game drives in the world famous Serengeti National Park, the drama of Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire National Park, Treetops’ private 87,000 acre game concession as well as a safari excursion to Lake Manyara National Park. And in the evening, retire to one of four Tanzania safari lodges.

Arrive in Johannesburg, South Africa

Welcome to Africa! Upon arrival you are met by a guide and escorted to your hotel. Enjoy the night to relax, tomorrow morning your African journey begins.

Embark the Zambezi Queen / Kasane, Botswana

After breakfast, fly to Kasane, Botswana where you’ll board the elegant Zambezi Queen on the Chobe River. Later this afternoon, enjoy the riverside scenery before your Welcome Cocktail and Dinner on board.

Chobe National Park, Botswana

Today experience your first game drive by vehicle as you set off in search for an array of different animals in Botswana’s famous Chobe National Park, home to one of the densest populations of wildlife in Africa. From here, you journey back to the Zambezi Queen for lunch as well as time to relax onboard and enjoy the scenery. Tonight, savor your dinner on board, followed by an entertaining presentation about the history of the Chobe area.

Kasenu Village, Botswana and Cruising the Chobe River

This morning take part in an unforgettable visit to Kasenu village to experience the local culture first-hand. If you prefer to use your time in search of more animals, you can join a morning safari by boat as you explore the banks of Chobe National Park. Return to the vessel for lunch and relaxation, and then depart for a river safari along with sundowner drinks. Towards the end of your river safari by boat, you are able to take in the famous African sunsets from the vantage point of the Chobe River. This evening, head ashore for an African Boma Dinner, featuring various flavorful local specialties. Tonight, your Cruise Manager shows you the African sky, pointing out southern hemisphere constellations.

Cruising the Chobe River

You have a choice of exciting water activities throughout the day. Options include a private boat safari, a bird watching excursion, or an expedition to catch the ferocious Tigerfish. Today you can also enjoy a slightly different version of a river safari aboard a special river barge which allows you to venture into new areas of the Chobe River. This excursion offers you a new vantage point to observe hippos and elephants in their natural habitat. Tonight, enjoy a Farewell Dinner on board.

Day 6

Disembark the Zambezi Queen / Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

This morning, transfer to the legendary Victoria Falls, one of the greatest natural wonders on earth. Settle into your hotel and spend the afternoon exploring the city or experiencing one of the many activities offered by your hotel.

Day 7

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

A local guide will take you on a tour of the remarkable Victoria Falls today. Tonight, embark on a private and festive Sunset Cruise along the Zambezi River. Relax on board as you observe a variety of game and enjoy a delicious mix of tapas with drinks and music.

Day 8

Fly to Johannesburg, South Africa

After breakfast, a flight to Johannesburg brings you to the largest city in South Africa. After arriving at your hotel, settle into your suite or enjoy the lawns on the property grounds. Before dinner, gather for an informative discussion on the day-to-day life of the South African bushmen in the Kalahari Desert.

Day 9


Head out this morning for a fascinating look at Johannesburg and the rich history it has to share from colonialism, to apartheid and finally democracy. Get an in-depth look at Soweto, the center of the uprising against the apartheid state. Walk the footsteps of Nelson Mandela and explore the colorful neighborhoods, parks and squares of Soweto. A visit to the Apartheid Museum is also on the agenda. Enjoy a delicious “township” lunch along the way.

Day 10

Johannesburg / Arusha, Tanzania

Fly to Tanzania where you will be met by an AmaWaterways Representative at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfered to Arusha Coffee Lodge. The lodge provides a peaceful and calming retreat before you start your Tanzanian safari.

Tarangire National Park, Tanzania

Enjoy a scenic drive to Tarangire. Take an afternoon safari drive, followed by a visit to Masai village. Spend two nights in a Tree House that rests on the branches of thousand-year old marula and baobab trees overlooking Treetops’ private reserve.

After breakfast at Treetops you’ll enjoy a full day of activities including game-drives, and a sunset drive in the bush.

Drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a game-drive and picnic lunch. Then on to Ngorongoro Manor and the renowned hospitality of its staff.

Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

Today you’ll enjoy a full day of exploration of the Ngorongoro Crater. Once a gigantic volcano, it is the largest intact caldera in the world and shelters one of the most beautiful wildlife havens on earth. A picnic hamper lunch will be served on the crater floor. After lunch, explore more of the crater before heading back to the Manor for evening cocktails, dinner and an overnight stay.

Serengeti, Tanzania

After breakfast you will be transfered to Manyara Airstrip for your Serengeti flight. Upon your arrival you’ll enjoy a game drive en route to the luxurious camp where your lunch will be served. This afternoon, it is time for another drive, should you choose to join.

Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Today you’ll have two game drives exploring the vast Serengeti, one in the morning and another after lunch. It is not possible to say with any accuracy where the Great Migration of the Wildebeest will be at any one time. There are a number of determining factors; however, one can be assured that if there is a good chance of seeing it, then this can be accomplished from Migration Camp. Your game drives will be spent in an open safari cruiser, stocked with cool drinks.

Day 17

Fly to Arusha, Tanzania / Depart

Begin the day with an early morning safari. Then transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Arusha. Once again, the team from Arusha Coffee Lodge will welcome you and show you your dayroom to freshen-up and relax. Lunch will be served in the gardens of the lodge before your final transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport where your safari comes to a close. Please do not schedule onward flights before 6:00 pm.
