Day 1 Ushuaia, Argentina

Arrive in Ushuaia anytime today and enjoy a complimentary stay at the beautiful Arakur Hotel & Resort. Explore the trails, take a spa, head into town, or relax and soak in the surroundings. Take part in an optional evening briefing and ask questions as you meet some of your fellow travelers.

Day 2 Ushuaia | Embark

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Enjoy a complimentary buffet breakfast before boarding the Hebridean Sky in Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city at the tip of Argentina. Start to become familiar with ‘your home’ for the next 13 days as you wonder about the exciting journey ahead. In the early evening, set sail from Ushuaia and begin your voyage, charting a course through the Beagle Channel.

Day 3-4 Drake Passage

  • Ship
  • 2 Breakfasts, 2 Lunches, 2 Dinners
Cross the Drake Passage and make your way ever closer to the white continent. Soak up the friendly atmosphere onboard as numerous Polar experts prepare you for the adventures ahead with presentations on everything Antarctic, from wildlife to history. Cross the Antarctic Convergence where the temperature may drop significantly as you enter the waters of the Antarctic Ocean. Travelers keen in Citizen Science can take part in collecting salinity samples and wind and temperature readings along the way. Witness many spectacular sights from icebergs to an array of seabirds and even several whale species, some of which are known on occasion to fully breach from the sea.

Day 5-12 Antarctic Peninsula

  • Ship
  • 8 Breakfasts, 8 Lunches, 8 Dinners
In the waterways of the Antarctic Peninsula spend as much time as possible exploring by inflatable Zodiac boats and marvel up close at nature's glory. Sail south of the Antarctic Circle and into Matha Strait or Marguerite Bay. Given favorable ice conditions, push your exploration even further southward, looking for historic and wildlife sites. At Half Moon Island, visit a breeding colony of chinstrap penguins that share their territory with fur seals and blue-eyed shags. As you sail south, hope to see the gentle humpback whale dining on krill in its feeding grounds and possibly have an opportunity to spot orcas and minke whales.

Set foot on the continent for the first time and explore the landscapes and wildlife of Paradise or Neko Harbor. Enjoy the amazing scenery, particularly the oddly-shaped icebergs looking like sculptures, as well as the colossal ‘tabular’ icebergs that break away from the continent’s ice shelf.

By the time you reach your most southerly point (south of the Antarctic Circle), make your way north, cruising through the narrow waterways and channels of the Antarctic Peninsula. Sail through spectacular waterways such as Crystal Sound, the Lemaire Channel, the Neumeyer Channel, and the Gerlache Strait. Put your feet on the continent one more time on sites like Neko Harbour, Wilhelmina Bay, Petermann Island and the Yalours, and observe Weddell, crabeater and elephant seals, skuas, and other seabirds as well as an abundance of penguins including colonies of the comical gentoo.

Day 13-14 Drake Passage

  • Ship
  • 2 Breakfasts, 2 Lunches, 2 Dinners
Spend time sharing and reflecting on the wonderful experiences of the last few days as you leave this magical place on your way north, heading again across the Antarctic Convergence and the Drake Passage. Sail down the Beagle Channel and celebrate the conclusion of your Polar expedition at a special slideshow and dinner.

Day 15 Ushuaia | Disembark

  • 1 Breakfast
Arrive back in Ushuaia and say farewell to your crew and fellow travelers. Disembark in the morning and catch a flight to Buenos Aires or stay in Ushuaia for more sights and adventure.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
