Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Regarded as the world’s southernmost city, Ushuaia is the capital of Tierra del Fuego in the extreme South of Argentina at the end of Beagle Bay. This amazing little town of over 45,000 people is surrounded by mountains and fertile plains. The first inhabitants here were nomadic hunters and gatherers who arrived on foot to the Isla Grande over 10,000 years ago.
An optional excursion is offered to Arakur Resort located inside Cerro Alarken Natural Reserve or to Tierra del Fuego National Park, including lunch. Nature lovers are often bowled over by its amazing wealth of flora and fauna: beavers, albatrosses, guanacos, penguins. Here forests cover the slopes of the Andes mountains then give way to snow-capped peaks, creating a truly unique and unforgettable landscape.
To reach the mythical White Continent, your ship must cross the notorious Drake Passage, named after the famous explorer Sir Frances Drake who sailed these waters way back in 1578. Then traverse the Polar Front which marks the area where waters from the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans meet.
On the small island of Goudier, you have the opportunity to visit Port Lockroy, discovered by the French explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot in 1903. Initially it served as a relief and repair base for whalers, but in 1944 Port Lockroy became a British base. It owes its name to Edouard Lockroy, a French politician and the partner of Jean-Baptiste Charcot during his expedition. You may be able to visit the small museum that retraces the life of the base in the 1950s. Since 1996, it has been open to the public during the short Southern Summer and is used for carrying out research on gentoo penguins. Nowadays, this base is the most visited site of the White Continent and, thanks to its little store and post office, it is the only place to offer you the opportunity to write to your friends and family and share this unique moment.
Continue your exploration of the Antarctic Peninsula as you venture to Pleneau Island and Port Charcot. Named in honor of the talented photographer who accompanied Jean-Baptiste Charcot on his 1903 expedition, Pleneau island has become a refuge for myriad gentoo penguins, elephant seals and fur seals, and it deploys an entire army of icy giants near its shores. In the heart of the island, Port Charcot comes into view. This great bay served as Captain Charcot's first winter quarters during an expedition aboard his famous "Pourquoi Pas?" and it still bears traces of that fabulous adventure.
Deep in Andvord Bay, find this little corner of paradise at the foot of an immense glacier. Neko Bay is without doubt one of the most beautiful sights of the Antarctic Peninsula. Wildlife is as abundant as it is exceptional: view sea birds such as gulls, Cape petrels and cormorants, as well as marine mammals like seals, orcas, and whales. Excursions aboard Zodiac dinghies allow you to sail close to blue-tinged icebergs or disembark near colonies of penguins, observe leopard seals basking on the shore, or watch the Antarctic terns flying overhead.
A lengthy sail in the Weddell Sea allows you to experience true silence, an extraordinary and enchanting atmosphere, unrivaled calm. Discover a secret reserve of preserved treasure: fur seals, penguin colonies, wandering albatross and other giant petrels. Here the huge icebergs and the endless ice cap sculpt a landscape beyond compare. The lord of the manor is known as the Weddell seal. Its pelage is dark grey and it has a spotted belly. It is a record breaker, able to remain submerged for more than an hour. To maintain its access to the sea and be able to fish, the Weddell seal has special teeth allowing it to make a hole in the thick ice.
Nestled at the heart of the South Shetland Islands, in the north of the Antarctic Peninsula, Deception Island is easy to recognize for its horseshoe shape. On the black sand of the volcanic beaches, there are remains of abandoned huts that have been overrun by the extraordinary wildlife, part of the treasure that Nature offers there. It is on these beaches of ash that the largest colony of chinstrap penguins in the Antarctic Peninsula has taken up residence. Excursions aboard Zodiac dinghies allow you to set foot on this expanse of land where more than 100,000 pairs of penguins, elephant seals, and fur seals live side by side.
As you sail northward, take time to reflect on your extraordinary adventures. Share memories and photos with your fellow passengers or simply relax and take advantage of your ship's amenities as you prepare to return.

The trip was terrific with great planning on your part. Most of the adventures were not mainstream and somewhat off the beaten path which made it especially enjoyable!! We felt taken care of and you all were readily available to respond to questions and issues. I would highly recommend your company and friends have already expressed interest based on our pictures and excitement.

The info on the website was laid out very well. I did some comparisons with other tours and found Adventure Life met a lot of what I wanted in an Antarctica trip at the cheapest price. Requested a quote on Claudia contacted me right away. She answered a lot of questions the I had via email even though she offered to discuss via phone call. I’m more of an email person so appreciated how she accommodated that and answered all my questions. And when I was ready to book, she quickly got the ball rolling with getting our spots reserved on the trip my friend and I wanted. Thanks again, Claudia!

(1) great information on the website and throughout all the "materials." (2) Jane Packer is great: knowledgeable, responsive, takes a personal interest and tone, seems to care about the customer as a person not a sale.

For our first trip to Costa Rica, Adventure Life designed a tour that meets the interests, ecological and adventure, of our party; but also takes into account our physical limitations sine we are all septuagenarian. We are looking forward to the trip.
