Embark on an extreme polar voyage to the alpine peaks of West Greenland. Explore the West of Greenland on your mountain skis or snowshoes and spot wildlife aboard sailing vessel "Rembrandt van Rijn" or from the Greenland shores on this exciting Arctic cruise.
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Arrive in Maniitsoq from Kangerdlussuak by chartered plane (flight not included in the voyage cost). The town is nestled on an island at the mouth of a fjord surrounded by peaks above 2000 m. The port of Maniitsoq is ice free from late spring to early winter. It is a community where fishing and hunting form the backbone of the economy. There is a museum which portrays regional history and culture. Sperm whale frequently surface in the waters near town.
East of Hamborgerland reach the fantastic landscapes of the Sermilinguaq Fjord, where you will sail by colonies of Brünnich’s guillemot and kittiwake. The Maniitsoq area offers a rugged scenery and mountain tops are flanked by glaciers reaching down to the sea. On snowshoes explore the lower slopes and viewpoints.
Spend quality time in Evighedsfjord and Kangerdluarssuat fjord over the next three days. The skiers climb a 1000 m peak at the interior of Taaterat Glacier and the snowshoe walkers can choose from one of the many hikes in the area, including one near Sermitsiaq glacier. The other days are spent at other high peaks in the region, including Eternity Fjord and the Northern slopes surrounding Kangerdluarssuat fjord north of Kangaamiut. Once skiers and snowshoe walkers reassemble back on the ship each evening, the ship will sail around the beautiful alpine scenery and everyone can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere on-board.
The slopes surrounding Kangerluarsuat are ideal for skiers and snowshoers. The exact location of the day's activities will depend on the snow conditions.
Today is spent skiing or snowshoeing on the beautiful North facing slopes of Sermersuut (Hamborgerland). In the evening, head towards Maniitsoq and enjoy the evening at sea.

Adventure Life has been an extraordinary travel resource for us over the years and today was no exception. Our River Cruise booking was handled by Jess (who has been our personal trip planner for several years) the same day as our inquiry. Suggestions were given for cabin choice and pre-trip options (that were not shown on the cruise line's website) like airport transfers and prepaid gratuities. Trip insurance recommendations followed and we were assigned a travel co-ordinator till the end of the tour. All we have to do is show up! Great service from friendly folks.

Our travel was flawless! The rider pickup (airport, hotel, ship) was seamless. Jane's recommendation for Emerald Cruise Sakara was everything I wanted but the experience was soooo much more. Adventure Life took care of each and every detail and this was the easiest of all my travels.
