Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Arrive in Maniitsoq from Kangerdlussuak by chartered plane. The town is nestled on an island at the mouth of a fjord surrounded by peaks that reach above 2000 meters. The port of Manitsoq is ice free from late spring to early winter. It is a community where fishing and hunting form the backbone of the economy. There is a museum which portrays regional history and culture. Sperm whale frequently surface in the waters near town.
East of Hamborgerland, your ship reaches the fantastic landscapes of the Sermilinguaq Fjord. The Maniitsoq area has rugged scenery with mountain tops flanked by glaciers reaching down to the sea. Explore the lower slopes and viewpoints on snowshoes.
At the mouth of Evighedsfjord, humpback whales are often spotted. Sail into the fjord and cruise along the nearby glacier front. Further into the fjord, sail among the highest alpine mountains in West Greenland.
Arrive at Sydbay (Ukivik), where the 18th century whalers traded with the Greenlanders at the annual Assivik - a time when people from a large area come together on a beautiful sandy beach. Make a landing at nearby Isortoq where remains of houses from the Thule culture can be found. In this area you may also see reindeer.
Find yourself in the mouth of the Disko Bay today. The area is surrounded by rich waters, which attract both seabirds and whales. You can expect to see your first Greenland whales here. In the evening spend the night in Fortune Bay where there are warm springs.
Today is another day of opportunities to see Greenland whale as your ship sails south of Godhavn. In the afternoon sail to the mouth of the Jakobshavn Isfjord, characterized by enormous icebergs. Keep an eye out for marine life as you float for a few hours.
A third day of opportunities to see Greenland whales when we sail north from Jakobshavn Glacier to the Grönne Ejland nature reserve, where you can find the remains of a small 19th century Greenlandic settlement.

Kate was great to work with in the planning stage. She was prompt, helpful, and efficient. Our tour guide, Edwin, was knowledgeable and passionate. We were very happy to have traveled with Adventure Life, it made the trip easy and a true pleasure. We could concentrate on enjoying the experience rather than the details of travel.

Adventure Life has been an extraordinary travel resource for us over the years and today was no exception. Our River Cruise booking was handled by Jess (who has been our personal trip planner for several years) the same day as our inquiry. Suggestions were given for cabin choice and pre-trip options (that were not shown on the cruise line's website) like airport transfers and prepaid gratuities. Trip insurance recommendations followed and we were assigned a travel co-ordinator till the end of the tour. All we have to do is show up! Great service from friendly folks.

Our travel was flawless! The rider pickup (airport, hotel, ship) was seamless. Jane's recommendation for Emerald Cruise Sakara was everything I wanted but the experience was soooo much more. Adventure Life took care of each and every detail and this was the easiest of all my travels.
