North Africa Cruise: When to Go?
When planning your Mediterranean cruise along the coast of North Africa, keep in mind the changeable weather patterns, which vary significantly from the west to the east. In general, the best time to take a North Africa cruise is during the spring or fall months, when temperatures are cooler and crowds are fewer.
An ideal destination, as the weather is pleasant almost year-round. If you have to choose, however, the months of March-May and September-November are the best, when you can avoid both the summer crowds of tourists and rainy winter weather.
Algeria and Tunisia
These countries become quite hot and humid during the high summer tourist season, but the coastal towns are lively and energetic despite the warm weather. The months of March-May are prime for visiting this region, as the landscape is lush and green after the winter rains and the temperatures are warm but not uncomfortable.
Libya is a bit of an anomaly, as it is best visited in the cooler winter months through early spring. Late spring sees harsh sandstorms blowing in from the south, and summers are uncomfortably hot and humid.
Summers on the Egyptian coast are also hot and humid, making spring and fall the best times to explore the famous treasures of this history-rich country.
