I've found a great place for writers and photographers to not only hone your skills, but also learn the ropes on turning your passion into a career.

The Magazine Conference will give you an opportunity to learn from and meet the top writers, editors, photo editors, and photographers at magazines including Outside, National Geographic, Backpacker, Ski, Women's Adventure, Climbing, Delicious Living, Natural Solutions, and more! It's a chance gain insight, inspiration, and invaluable networking.

About the Conferences

The Magazine Conference was started in 2007 by Womens Adventure Magazine, bringing aspiring writers and photographers the opportunity to hear from award-winning experts and pitch their work to magazine editors from some of the country's top publications.

In 2008, the offerings have grown to four conferences all taking place at the foothills of the Rockies in Boulder, Colorado.

Photography in Magazines, April 11-13 Speakers include the best outdoor magazine photographers in the world along with the opportunity to pitch your work to top magazine photo editors.

Magazine Writer's Workshop, June 6-8 Featuring noted author, Pam Houston. The nuts and bolts of the writing craft and business of freelancing. Excellent speakers, plus breakout sessions with award-winning magazine editors and writers. Learn, grow, and take the next step toward a lucrative writing career.

Travel Writing and Photography, Sept. 12-14 There are two simultaneous tracks at this conference—one for photographers and one for writers—and general sessions and editor meetings for both. The faculty includes accomplished travel writers, photographers, photo editors, and magazine and book editors.

The Original Magazine Conference, Oct. 10-12 Just like the October 2007 conference. A beginner to mid-level 101 course about all aspects of magazine writing. Allows one-on-one sessions with nationally renowned editors.
