Explore uninhabited islands, pristine coral reefs, rich fishing grounds, and labyrinth-like mangrove channels by Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) on this sunny Belize tour. Ideal for travelers looking for sea, sun, and snorkeling, this itinerary reaches the lesser-known cayes of the Southern Barrier Reef. Navigating Paradise Islands via SUP is the perfect way to explore: a flexible schedule and the path less traveled makes it an adventurous tropical vacation.

Spend a night inland at the Tropical Education Center viewing wildlife
Arrive at the Belize International Airport and meet your guide. Transfer to the Tropical Education Center and settle into your forest cabana. Meet your fellow travelers over dinner and explore the savannah forest which winds through the network of interpretative trails and wildlife viewing platforms.
Wake up to the sounds and scents of the tropics: the chatter of parrots and parakeets flying overhead. After breakfast, travel the Hummingbird Route through the Maya Mountains and meet up with a motor charter which will take you to your first island on the Southern Barrier Reef. Learn about the safety in a tropical marine environment and then, after a tasty Belizean lunch, learn the fundamentals of Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP). Begin your journey over the tops of submerged coral reefs, turtle grass beds, and through narrow mangrove channels to reach your first night's accommodation.
Begin your day with a steaming mug of coffee and fresh tropical fruit, then enjoy an early morning swim or paddle before breakfast. Snorkel at Tobaccco Caye and the outer reef walls during the day and in the afternoon paddle to nearby cayes to explore the sheltered lagoons and mangrove channels. In the evening, return to Tobacco Caye and overnight.
In the morning, paddle along one of the most beautiful sections of the entire reef system. The waters are shallow and clear, perfect for viewing a tremendous variety of marine life including southern stingrays, eagle rays, grouper, nurse sharks, and more. Land on the beach and check into your accommodations before enjoying an ice cold drink. Set out to explore the island before dinner, then settle in for the night.
Explore different regions of the reef including the inner and outer walls, patch and fringing reefs, mangrove ranges, and protected lagoons. Scuba divers can arrange diving trips as requested for an additional cost. Novice divers may also try their hand at Scuba with Discover Scuba courses. As you paddle, get to know the local fishermen who make their living from the sea.
Paddle to Billy Hawk Caye (in the Blue Ground Range), a Garifuna fishing camp, and enjoy a local Belizean lunch followed by an afternoon of snorkeling. Return to Southwater Caye just in time to enjoy a drink and take in the sunset. In the evening, celebrate your final night in paradise with a farewell dinner and colorful island festivities.
Day 7 Depart Belize
After an early breakfast, board a water taxi and travel back to the mainland town of Dangriga. From Dangriga, taxis can be arranged to take you to your connecting flight at the Belize International Airport. Or, take a local bus to continue exploring Belize!
Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
