Insider Tips: Where to go Dancing in San Jose, Costa Rica

Enjoying the local rhythm during a Costa Rica tour

Castro's Discotheque is a classic Costa Rican dance club. Combining Latin flare with a bit of world techno, dancers are treated to a mixture of salsa, merengue, reggaeton, cumbia, swing criollo and more. Wallflowers are invited too. There are plenty of places to simply sit back and take in the sounds and sights. The club welcomes both experiences salseros and novice dancers. Popular with the locals, it is a great place to connect with others who share your passion for great music and dance.

You can find Castro's Discotheque in San Jose's Barrio (or neighborhood) Mexico. I recommend taking an official taxi. Castro's is open every day from 11 AM to the early morning hours. Simple lunch and dinner options are available for those of us who get a little famished after a few hours of cumbia.

Get out your dancing shoes, learn a few salsa-steps, and check out Castro's Discotheque for yourself during your next Costa Rica tour!
