In summary, we won the Tuesday co-rec b league. . . Big improvement over last year. We are getting wiser in our old age despite our legs and backs failing us!
There is one current employee (me), one employee's spouse (Jens), and two former employees on the team (Jenni Graff and Colin Sorenson), and a whole team appreciative of having sweet jerseys and our team fees covered.
Adventure Life Soccer
Adventure Life was kind enough to support our co-rec summer soccer team again this year, and while we did not win the season, our team definitely had the most fun. This is my fourth season with this team. I have played a lot of team sports in my lifetime, and it is so great to call the people I play with not just teammates, but good friends.
We started the season wearing long-sleeve shirts and tights under our shorts. But as weather can often do in Montana we went from cold to HOT in a hurry. A few weeks in and Missoula was hitting the high 90s. Our amazing leader and captain Ron (AKA Coach, Captain, and at times, Dad) rewarded our hot summer games with a cooler full of ice-cold beverages.
All those hot games start to run together after a while, but some of my proud moments include our well-executed defense keeping some of the best players from scoring. I also got to step up a little and play more mid-field this year, allowing me to not only sprint like crazy, but also get more touches on the ball and even have a few scoring opportunities. Sadly, I didn't actually score, but I am getting there. Perhaps next summer.
The end-of-the-season tournament was a tough on. Temperatures were high and competitiveness was even higher. Unfortunately, we did not make it past the second round, but again, our team had the most fun. And Ron had a cooler full of ice-cold beer to end the season on a high note.
Thanks Adventure Life for keeping me active after work!
