10 Places To Explore in Costa Rica with Adventure Life
With only one week to experience Costa Rica, we booked our trip with Adventure Life to see, taste and enjoy the beauty of the eco-friendly country in Central America.
Adventure Life secured us a terrific guide, Edgar. He is a native Costa Rican who speaks English beautifully. He also is a biologist and bird enthusiasts. We saw more birds in one week than most people, as Edgar went everywhere with his tripod and high powered telescope. He had his bird book in his backpack to teach us about some of the almost 900 species that thrive in Costa Rica.
He accompanied us for seven days, securing taxi rides to various destinations and interpreting in English what we were seeing, experiencing and eating. It made our trip relaxing, informative and comfortable.
Here are 10 spots in Costa Rica we enjoyed visiting with Edgar:
1. Hiking down to the La Fortuna Waterfall and wading in the stream.
2. Exploring the charming city of La Fortuna and sharing a lunch together. Feeding the street dogs left over chicken from our meal.
3. Hiking the base of the Arenal volcano in the rain and learning about the flora and fauna.
4. Taking a 30 minute boat ride on Lake Arenal to take the short cut route to Monteverde.
5. Learning about humming birds, coatis, capuchin monkeys and sloths while walking with Edgar around Monteverde and the cloud forest. His enthusiasm for the wildlife was contagious.
6. Going zip-lining with Edgar above the cloud forest. Hearing his scream when he jumped off the Tarzan swing.
7. Enjoying lunch with Edgar in a Treehouse restaurant in Santa Elena.
8. Seeing crocodiles and drinking ice cold coconut water from a coconut at Tárcoles River, on our way to Quepos.
9. Seeing sloths in Manuel Antonio National Park through the lens of Edgar's telescope. Edgar pointing out their Mona Lisa Smile.
10. The Beach on the Pacific Ocean side of Costa Rica. Edgar made sure we were always safe and happy. He watched our backpacks while we swam in the warm water. We never felt in danger, because of Edgar. Not only was he an excellent guide, but he became our friend for the seven days we explored his country together.
Erin is great to work with on our adventure to Antartica. She gave us great choices and is very knowledgeable about the options. Her recommendations saved us from making some big mistakes.

Jane Packer helped us through the cancellation of our trip due to American Queen Voyages bankruptcy and then finding another cruise with American Cruise Lines.
Jane is very prompt in response, answers any questions, and makes good suggestions thereby making the process much easier!

Adventure Life did an excellent job of planning, organizing and executing a great trip to Argentina. It was nice to have the trip with just the two of us which allowed for a more personable tour with excellent tour guides in all four locations visited. We learned lots of details of the beautiful sites in BA, Mendoza,Baliloche and Iguazu Falls. We want to do another trip with Adventure Life some day.

Kassandra rocks! She had our trip planned and helped us arrange our air travel within the day we contacted her. She has helped us with our trips to Chile Argentina and Costa Rica, and she always finds us wonderful activities and accommodations. We’re looking forward to seeing what she’s planning for us this time when we go to Easter island
