Isle del Sol and Moon Island

We took a boat to the north end of Isle del Sol and hiked to Challapampa. We explored more ruins, including the sacred rock of Lake Titicaca and the footprints left by the Sun God when he left the island! We spent some time on the beach and waded in the lake. We then went by boat back to the southern end of the island where we enjoyed an aptapi, a picnic of traditional Bolivian foods (corn, fava beans, sweet potatoes, dried trout, eggs, and fruit). We then took a boat to Moon Island to explore the ruins there. Moon Island was used by the Incas to house young girls who were trained to please the chief- and to be used as sacrifices to the gods. We spent the night in Copacabana.
