Two-thirds of St. John Island has been dedicated as a national park and is the most virgin of the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is blessed with many beautiful beaches and bays, fine anchorages and verdant hills. Day 3: Saba, Netherlands Antilles | Gustavia, St. Barths, F.W.I.
This Caribbean paradise is a special municipality of the Netherlands. Because of this, Saba is actually the location of the highest point of elevation of the Netherlands, even though it is a few thousand miles away from its European homeland! With an estimated local population of just over 2,000 people, Saba is now primarily supported by tourism, and is known for a concentration on “eco-tourism”. This includes diving, hiking, and climbing its mountainous terrain. The island is so small that there is only one main road, and its airport is well-known for having one of the shortest commercial runways in the world. The island’s intimate size, picturesque red rooftops, and lush vegetation make it a perfect port to call on during your Caribbean yachting vacation.
Perhaps the most treasured destination in the Caribbean, this small island belonging to the French West Indies has so much to offer to guests. Incredible shopping only steps away from the pier, sparkling beaches, resorts, and restaurants, and activities both day and night. Join an optional excursion to discover the island from sea or land. Ask one of the officers to take you on a hike or bike ride around the island. Or simply relax and watch all of the yachts arriving and departing just off shore.
Nearly every publication written about Virgin Gorda lists “The Baths” as a must see! SeaDream generally arrives early and anchors off Spanish Town to give guests an early start to view the Baths before all of the tourists arrive from the neighboring Islands. You may also consider excellent SCUBA diving options or an opportunity to swim with dolphins. After a short technical stop to dispatch land adventures and clearance with the officials, navigate up the scenic coast and arrive at North Sound to anchor just off the Bitter End Yacht Club. Here take the opportunity to join water sports, land adventures, or hiking options with the officers to the Bitter End! Depending on the voyage, you may also visit Prickly Pear Island for another signature Champagne and Caviar Splash option with an incredible setting.
Norman Island is located at the southern tip of the British Virgin Islands. It could very well be the very same island reputed to be the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson's pirate novel Treasure Island. It is said that the island was named after a pirate who purchased it at some point during the early 18th century. The island is uninhabited and privately owned by Dr. Henry Jarecki. Its area is about 600 acres (2.4 km²), and it is about 2.5 miles (4 km) long. A large harbor is known as "The Bight" offers one of the most protected anchorages in the area. Guests enjoy some great hiking opportunities as well as snorkeling and scuba diving. Another attractive option may be to check out the Willie T that is generally anchored in the harbor or simply have a beverage at the Pirates Bight Bar.
The BVI’s barefoot island and home of the "Painkiller" drink, here the population depends on the month – typically 250-300. This is another SeaDream destination where you may be served Champagne and Caviar in the surf followed by a beach barbecue lunch. A hike is always offered to guests to visit the famous Foxy’s Bar at Great Harbor, or you can stroll down the beach to the Soggy Dollar Bar. Snorkeling equipment is provided as well as some of the water toys!
Day 8: San Juan, Puerto Rico | Disembark

San Juan, founded in the 1520s by Spanish settlers, is both the largest city and the capital city of Puerto Rico. A territory of the United States, Puerto Rico is comprised of the large main island as well as five smaller islands, including the popular islands of Vieques and Culebra. SeaDream docks in Old San Juan, the oldest part of the city. Parts of this historic port city are still surrounded by stone walls dating back to the 1500s. Narrow cobblestone streets, small shops, and points of interest like the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista make this charming city a great place to stroll. Guests sailing into or departing from San Juan to enjoy the views of Castillo de San Felipe del Morro, a mid- 1700’s Spanish fortress. San Juan Luiz Munoz Marin Airport is approximately a 30-minute drive to the port in Old San Juan. Currency in Puerto Rico is USD.

Adventure Life has been an extraordinary travel resource for us over the years and today was no exception. Our River Cruise booking was handled by Jess (who has been our personal trip planner for several years) the same day as our inquiry. Suggestions were given for cabin choice and pre-trip options (that were not shown on the cruise line's website) like airport transfers and prepaid gratuities. Trip insurance recommendations followed and we were assigned a travel co-ordinator till the end of the tour. All we have to do is show up! Great service from friendly folks.

Our travel was flawless! The rider pickup (airport, hotel, ship) was seamless. Jane's recommendation for Emerald Cruise Sakara was everything I wanted but the experience was soooo much more. Adventure Life took care of each and every detail and this was the easiest of all my travels.
