What can I say about Torres del Paine that hasn't already been said before? Honestly - probably nothing. It's as beautiful as all the pictures. A trip to Patagonia that does not includes TDP makes me a little sad. It's true that the Fitz Roy range is striking and might be just as impressive if viewed side by side. And it could even be said that the Argentinean side of Patagonia is less trafficked. But even the hoardes of people on the W Circuit couldn’t dampen my excitement. Ian, ever the commodore of cool, was practically drooling. Immense granite massifs studded with glaciers are what we long for. And Torres del Paine delivers – and it delivers big time.
The W Circuit is easily the most beautiful trail I’ve ever hiked. I was glad it wasn’t terribly difficult because my head was cranked back looking upwards at the mountains for a good solid week. I apologize that my pictures don't do it justice. I had better go back again to get some better ones!
