Day 1 Embark in Hong Kong

Arrive in bustling Hong Kong. Embark your ship between 4 and 5 this evening. Settle in to your cabin and familiarize yourself with the ship and her crew.

Day 2 At Sea

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Your first day on board L'Austral is spent cruising the open sea. Spend your day taking in the fresh sea air on deck, or continue to settle in to your new "home."

Day 3 Xiamen, China

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Today, make your first call to port in Xiamen. Choose from three optional excursions to explore this region. Enjoy a taste of local life on a scenic coastal drive that brings you to Island Ring Road where you can join a bicycle ride around the area, participate in a Tai Chi class, and attend a traditional tea ceremony. Alternatively, choose to tour the charming island of Gulangyu. Once on the island, learn about its colonial and international history and visit the local Shuzhuang Garden. Finally, you can choose to enjoy a panoramic tour of Xiamen by air-conditioned coach. See all of its highlights, including stops at the South Putuo Temple and the Xiamen Overseas Chinese Museum.

Day 4-5 At Sea

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
You have two days at sea while your ship sails to Shanghai. Spend your days enjoying the luxurious amenities on board, keeping watch for marine life on deck, or simply enjoying the ever-changing views.

Day 6-7 Shanghai, China

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
For your first day in Shanghai choose from a variety of optional excursions, including a panoramic tour that brings you to see the highlights of this dynamic city, a visit to the ancient water town of Zhujiajiao, a Chinese acrobatic show, or a full-day excursion to visit highlights of the city and surrounding areas. Your second day offers two optional excursions to either see the art of Shanghai or to explore the garden city of Suzhou, two hours into the countryside beyond busy Shanghai.

Day 8 At Sea

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Spend your last day at sea reflecting on your voyage thus far and preparing for the last leg of your journey.

Day 9 Dalian, China

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Arrrive in Dalain today and choose from two optional excursions. Join a tour that provides an overview of life in this city as you visit the largest public square, a bustling farmer's market, a local kindergarten, and a shopping center. Alternatively, board a coach to head towards Zhongshan Square, where you depart on foot for a leisurely stroll through several historic squares. Arrive in the People's Square, where - weather permitting - you can participate in one of the oldest Chinese pastimes: kite flying. Kite flying dates back some 2,000-plus years in China, where indigenous bamboo and silk provide the perfect materials for the delicate airborne apparatus. Enjoy practicing this ancient skill, still thrilling young and old the world over with the fancy of flight, before returning to your ship.

Day 10 Disembark in Tianjin (Beijing), China

  • 1 Breakfast
Following breakfast on board, disembark in Tianjin. Transfer to the Beijing airport for your homeward flights.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
