Day 1: Embark in Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica

  • 1 Dinner
You'll experience Puerto Caldera, a small port town on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, and enjoy time to get settled into your stateroom before the ship casts off this evening for your Costa Rica cruise.

Day 2: Isla Parida, Panama

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
In Chiriquí Gulf National Marine Park, a marine park near the Costa Rican border, lies Isla Parida. Accessible only by sea, it is one of the most unspoiled islands in the park. Here, you’ll find stunning beaches, dense jungle, rocky bluffs, turquoise waters teeming with marine life, and an abundance of birds and wildlife. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, or basking in the sun, or strike out along a hiking path. Isla Parida is also renowned for its world-class sportfishing, and dolphin and whale watching are other popular activities on this island.

Day 3: Granito de Oro, Panama / Isla de Coiba, Panama

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Located 14 miles off the Pacific coast of Panama, in the Gulf of Chiriquí, Coiba National Park is a 430,825-acre wildlife and marine reserve consisting of forests, beaches, mangroves, and one of the largest Pacific coral reefs in the Americas. Today, you'll visit two enchanting islands within the park. In the morning, The Moana calls on Granito de Oro. Literally “Little Grain of Gold,” Granito de Oro is a small island whose famous coral reefs have earned it acclaim as one of the top ten diving destinations in the world. As you snorkel in these warm, clear waters, view colorful fish, eels, turtles, and whitetip reef sharks. Perhaps you’ll opt for kayaking instead. Or stroll the sandy beaches bustling with hermit crabs.

The afternoon features a visit to Isla de Coiba, the largest island in Central America and the centerpiece of the park. Once a notorious penal colony, it has been largely uninhabited, with the result that 85% of the virgin rainforest that covers the island is intact. Admire the island’s rare plant species and beautiful white-sand beaches.

Day 4: Casa Orquideas, Costa Rica \ Casa Saladero, Costa Rica

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Today, The Moana calls on two ports on Costa Rica’s charming Golfo Dolce (literally, “Sweet Gulf”), whose pristine waters are framed by a lush tropical forest. In the morning, discover Casa Orquideas, where an American expatriate couple has cultivated a beautiful, private fruit and vegetable garden. Here, you are invited to explore a network of trails as you learn about exotic local flora. Perhaps you’ll also spot scarlet macaws, toucans, and other colorful birds in a haven renowned for its excellent birdwatching.

In the afternoon, The Moana calls on Casa Saladero, which offers a tranquil beachfront and primary rainforest.

Day 5: Isla del Cano (Drake Bay), Costa Rica

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Located on the northern side of Osa Peninsula, home of Corcovado National Park — Costa Rica’s largest national park and one of the most biodiverse places on Earth — Drake Bay also gives you easy access to Isla del Caño, an uninhabited island whose coral beds offer superb snorkeling. You can also view stone spheres and other artifacts left by an ancient civilization dating to the pre-Columbian era.

Day 6: Quepos, Costa Rica

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Set on an inlet surrounded by tropical rain forest, this Costa Rican village was home to the Quepo Indians until the mid-1700s. Today, it is an ecotourism and sportfishing mecca. Enjoy the high-spirited, friendly locals, who celebrate life with dancing in the streets and frequent festivals and other events. Explore the village center, a charming, compact area brimming with shops, galleries, restaurants, and bakeries set on the beach. Or venture the short distance to Manuel Antonio National Park—the country’s smallest park, yet one of the most biodiverse places in the world, with beautiful rain forests, beaches, and coral reefs.

Day 7: Isla Tortuga, Costa Rica / Curu Wildlife Reserve

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Literally “Turtle Island,” Isla Tortuga, off the southern tip of Nicoya Peninsula, is home to wildlife reserves and refuges, with plenty of walking trails. As you cruise here, you might spot manta rays, pilot whales, or whale sharks. Then, come ashore to enjoy white-sand beaches shaded by coconut palms and perhaps go swimming or embark on a glass-bottom boat ride on emerald waters. Snorkelers can search for stingrays, angel fish, spinner dolphins, octopus, and sharks, while divers can explore the shipwrecks that have become havens for a variety of marine life.

In the afternoon, Tere Moana sails to Curú Wildlife Reserve, a privately owned wildlife reserve on Nicoya Peninsula. The park is pioneering in its combination of protected wildlife reserve and sustainable, low-impact agriculture. Among the animals you might see in the wild here are white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, scarlet macaws, collared peccary, coati, coyotes, iguanas, and hundreds of species of tropical and migratory birds. Curú also boasts one of the most beautiful beaches on Nicoya Peninsula.

Day 8: Disembark in Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica

  • 1 Breakfast
Your voyage ends where it began, in the port town of Puerto Caldera. Enjoy breakfast aboard before disembarking for your return flight home.
