Discover the Galapagos Islands on board one of the finest expedition vessels available. Ever since her arrival in Ecuador, the Eclipse has surpassed the other options available in the Galapagos Islands, offering unparalleled levels of comfort and service. A 210 ft expedition vessel that accommodates up to 48 passengers in staterooms, each with a seaview, the Eclipse is the perfect base for any Galapagos experience; a generously proportioned ship with a small yacht atmosphere.
Whether you are snorkeling with sea lions, watching a blue-footed booby feed its young, or following a giant tortoise through the forest, the Galapagos Islands will surpass all expectations. And there is no better way to enjoy the wonders of the islands, than on board the Eclipse.
Amenities on board the Eclipse
All 48 passengers can be accommodated in one sitting in the spacious dining room. In addition to the elegant indoor dining room, there is an al fresco dining area located around the pool, where you can enjoy the islands' spectacular scenery over a delicious lunch. All soft drinks are complimentary on the Eclipse.
There is a lounge for relaxation and for the nightly briefings on the day's discoveries and the following day's activities.
The indoor bar is attended at all times and the outdoor bar's opening hours may vary according to weather conditions.
There is also a well-stocked library for quiet study and reading.
A boutique is located next to the Front Desk. It is open at all times, except during excursions to the islands.
There is a well-equipped infirmary with an M.D. on board.
The Eclipse has 4 types of cabin, all of which have sea views:
4 Deluxe Staterooms on the Boat Deck
8 Superior Staterooms on the Boat Deck
12 Staterooms on the Main Deck
2 Single Staterooms on the Main Deck
Fully air-conditioned, the Eclipse┤s spacious cabins have either a double or twin bed arrangement, with two bedside tables, a writing desk, chair, ample closet space, private safety deposit box and an internal communications system. Deluxe and Superior Staterooms on the Boat Deck have picture windows and Staterooms on the Main Deck have portholes.
The well-appointed bathrooms consist of a shower, toilet, sink, cabinet, hairdryer and a basket of toiletries. Guests are offered the use of complimentary bathrobes. Fresh towels are available every day should passengers require them; however, please take into consideration the water conservation policy that is in effect on board. Special towels for the beach will be provided by guides on the island excursions.
Activities on board the Eclipse
Since Galapagos offers cloudless skies most of the year, stargazing should not be missed. There are nightly lectures on the top deck with visual aids to enhance the sightings (December to April).
There is always the opportunity to whale-watch while traveling between the different islands, especially from June to September. However, the best chance of seeing whales is off the northwest coast of Isabela on Tuesday. An announcement will always be made if a whale is spotted.
On Wednesday afternoon, after the panga ride at Punta Vicente Roca, the Eclipse will cross the Equator. Passengers are welcome to go to the bridge and observe the GPS showing latitude 0║ and join the crew afterwards for a delicious Sushi in the al fresco area.
Open Bridge Policy
Navigation lessons from the Captain and officers are available whenever the ship is anchored.
On Tuesday evening there will be musical entertainment after dinner.
Lectures and Briefings
The expedition leader and the guides will give nightly lectures on the islands, in addition to briefings on the next day┤s activities.
