Sail for the undiscovered islands of the Aegean Sea on this 11-day Greece cruise. Unlike their larger and better known counterparts, these smaller islands have preserved their architectural and cultural treasures, as well as their traditional way of life. Explore forgotten ancient ruins, hidden harbors, and villages where traditional occupations and crafts (fishing, farming, pottery, and wine-making) are still practiced. Learn about the fascinating history of the islands as you view whitewashed villages on Amorgos, Skopelos, and Sifnos, the awe-inspiring volcanic island of Nisyros, the Sanctuary of the Great Gods on Samothraki, and the monastery on Patmos. This off-the-beaten track cruise is ideal for those seeking to find the historical heart of Greece.

  • 1 Dinner
Arrive in Athens and transfer to Piraeus. Embark on the Harmony V.

Day 2: Sifnos

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
In the morning, arrive on the unspoiled island of Sifnos, where the distinctive cubic style of Cycladic architecture prevails. Explore the former island capital at Kastro, a well-kept village which has retained much of its medieval character. Continue to Apollonia, a Cycladic labyrinth of white houses, flowers, and belfries. Also visit its twin village Artemonas, which features impressive Venetian-style houses and distinctive chimneys.

Day 3: Amorgos

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Arrive at Amorgos, a seldom-visited island in the Cyclades group, whose whitewashed villages are set in a rugged landscape. A tour leads to the 11th-century Monastery of Khosoviotissa, built in a spectacular setting of cliffs which face the sea. For over 1,000 years, the monastery has been a place of pilgrimage.

Day 4: Symi

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Sail to Symi, once the stronghold of the Knights of St. John, and the coveted object of a succession of invaders. With tiers of beautifully proportioned neoclassical mansions rising above its harbor, Symi remains one of Greece's most attractive islands.

Day 5: Nisyros

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Explore the island of Nisyros and its impressive volcano. The drive to the crater provides magnificent views. Upon arrival, walk across the caldera. Continue to the charming village of Nikia, which is positioned atop the crater.

Day 6: Ikaria

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Enjoy a guided tour of this rugged island and spend some time at your leisure.

Day 7: Chios

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Awake in Chios, the island which claims to be the birthplace of Homer. The island's volcanic rock formations and deep green valleys forge a landscape of stunning color oppositions and intricate appearances. Visit the 11th century Monastery of Nea Moni, one of the most important ecclesiastical monuments in Greece.

Day 8: Samothraki

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
An island of great beauty, remote Samothraki remains outside of most tourist itineraries. For this reason, it has retained its original character. The city's central massif rises to the peak of Mount Fengari and, according to Homer, it was from this peak that Poseidon watched the fighting during the Trojan War. It was also here that the sculpture "Winged Victory" was discovered in 1863.

Day 9: Skopelos

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Skopelos's main town is built against a hill which rises from the sea. As you explore the island, discover some of the most characteristic Aegean architecture - whitewashed, cube-shaped houses with blue slate roofs. Scattered around the countryside are numerous small churches.

Day 10: Evia

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
The medieval hilltop town of Kimi and dramatic Mt. Ortari rise above you as you arrive at the island of Evia. Enjoy the spectacular views and lush flora as you drive along its winding roads.

Day 11: Piraeus / Disembark

  • 1 Breakfast
Disembark in Piraeus and transfer to Athens airport for your independent return flights.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
