Discover the Alaskan wilderness on an Alaskan cruise aboard the Island Spirit. This 9-day cruise sails to the historical ports of Juneau and Petersburg, and crosses into Fords Terror. View the stunning wildlife which call Alaska home from the comfort of your ship.

Day 1

Arrive Sitka

Arrive in Sitka and take the daily shuttle from the airport. Meet your Naturalist at the Russian Orthodox Church to begin your Sitka Tour, which includes The Raptor Center, Totem Park, and the Sheldon Jackson Museum. Board the Island Spirit, located at the Eliason Marina Dock. Join a cocktail reception at 5:00 PM before dinner, and spend the evening cruising.

Day 2

Cruise Alaska

Spend the day cruising and exploring Alaska! Experience the great Alaska wilderness as you cruise to a local bay for kayaking or exploring. Enjoy a serene evening away from the crowds and take a skiff ride in search for bears.

Day 3

Chatham Strait

In the morning, cruise to Chatham Strait. Enjoy a truly unique and small Alaskan community experience at Tenakee Springs. The population of this town is a mere 128! Stroll among the waterfront homes, visit the mercantile (founded in 1899) and enjoy a little shopping at the friendly bakery. Chat with some of the locals as you explore the area.

Day 4

Icy Strait Point

In the morning, arrive at the town of Hoohah, Icy Strait Point. Once an active fishing cannery, Hoohah is now remodeled and renovated to showcase the local native culture and entertainment. Enjoy native dance and learn about the local Alaskan culture. You might want to add an additional excursion at this port: The longest zip line in the United States. Anchor in the evening and listen to some of the quiet of nature.

Day 5

After breakfast, visit Juneau, the capital of Alaska. Spend the day shopping, taking optional tours, and visiting the local restaurants (perhaps the famous Red Dog Saloon). Re-board the ship at 4:00pm and depart for Stephen's passage.

Day 6

Endicott Arm / Fords Terror

Cruise through Endicott Arm and visit Dawes Glacier before entering one of Southeast Alaska's most pristine and scenic canyons: Fords Terror. Known for its swirling rapids and sheer cliff faces, this wonderful wilderness area is protected under the Tongass National Forest.

Day 7

Fords Terror

Wake in the beautiful Ford's Terror with brunch and invite a U.S. forest service ranger to join and discuss the spectacular fjord around us. Enjoy a majestic place to kayak or take skiff rides, and explore a place that very few people have ever heard of. Hope to find bears along the coastline. Leave when the tide is high through Stephen's passage and sail for a quiet anchorage.

Day 8

In the morning, sail into the fishing community of Petersburg. Take a walk through the muskeg and enjoy the local shops while you learn about the Scandinavian culture.

Day 9

  • Breakfast
