What's your Adventure?

Day 1 Embark in Singapore

Day 2 Melaka, Malaysia

Poised on the strait after which it is named, Melaka was founded by the Sumatra Prince Parameswara and is today a UNESCO World Heritage site. Ideally located to monitor all shipping between Asia and the West, the city will be forever linked to the silk and spice trade. For a long time Melacca was coveted by explorers from the other side of the world, and the Portuguese, Dutch and English have all had their turn at the helm.

Day 3 Port Keland, Malaysia

Established at the point where two rivers meet in the centre of the Malaysian peninsula, for a long time the ancient royal city was home to the sultans of Selangor. Today Kuala Lumpur represents a skilful integration of architecture harmoniously blending the past with the future, giving this former colonial city its unique charm.

Day 4 Penang, Malaysia

A major trading post for the British in the Far East, Penang Island has a unique ambiance blending East with West. Once described as the “Pearl of the Orient” due to a brisk trade in spices, fabrics and tin, Penang today has become a kind of Malaysian Riviera. Fine sandy beaches and spectacular scenery has made the island one of the most popular destinations in Malaysia.

Day 5 At Sea, cruising Andaman Sea

Day 6 Port Blair, India

Days 7-8 At Sea, cruising Bengal Gulf

Day 9 Colombo, Sri Lanka

Like a pearl that has dropped off the Indian peninsula, Sri Lanka is an island of luscious vegetation and highly original monuments influenced by the teachings of Buddha. Often dubbed the “happy” or “radiant” island, Sri Lanka was a former trading post on the silk and spice route and its capital Colombo offers a wonderful sight of picturesque streets in the old centre. There is also a chance to visit Kandi, the kingdom’s last capital and since the 16th century home to the famous “Relic of the Buddha’s Tooth”, housed in the heart of the sober elegance of the Dalada Maligawa Temple.

Day 10 Trivandrum, India

Days 11-12 Kochi, India

A small port in the south-west of India, Kochi is one of the most beautiful on the Malabar Coast where the scent of cardamom mingles with cloves. It was here that Vasco de Gama disembarked over 500 years ago. And yet how many Phoenicians, Greeks, Arabs and Romans came here before him to drop anchor in the turquoise waters of the Oman Sea? So many nations, at a time when pepper from Malabar was almost as precious as gold, left these shores laden with precious spices. Here you will find the Church of St Francis, the oldest European church in India, a synagogue from the 16th century and a lively bazaar. A Dutch palace has collections of traditional costumes, turbans and palanquins. Take a Kettuvallam rice barge to explore the “backwaters”, a network of lakes and channels bordering the villages and rice fields.

Day 13 At Sea, cruising Oman Sea

Day 14 Mormugao, India

All the nostalgia of the colonial era is to be found here in this former Portuguese trading post where small white churches and the cathedrals of Velha Goa are more reminiscent of South America than Asia. Here in the Mandovi estuary, a steady stream ran by large barges and small steam boats, the colonial-style architecture of Panjin is spread out over a lush green hillside.

Day 15 Mumbai, India
