Join Le Boreal on this 14-day voyage to discover the striking landscapes of the Pacific coast of South American and the colonial style of Chile's coastal cities. Running between the Andes and the ocean, Chile offers visitors a richly contrasting landscape and pristine vistas. Set out from Valparaiso to discover Patagonia on visits to Tortel and the Tores del Paine Ntional Park on your way to legendary Cape Horn. This trip is truly a unique occasion to sail to the heart of the Chilean waterways, between immaculate archipelagos and tumultuous fjords.
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Arrive in Valparaiso. Embrak Le Boreal between 3:30 and 4:30 this afternoon. Settle in to your cabin and familiarize yourself with the ship and her crew.
Day 2: At Sea
As your ship sails southward, continue to explore your ship and discover her amenities. Take a moment to enjoy the sea breeze from the deck and keep an eye out for marine life and birdlife that may be following you on your journey.
Day 3: Castro, Chile
Today, join an optional excursion to discover Castro and its remarkable churches by coach. Leave the pier, crossing the Gamboa River. Look out for the palafitos, wooden houses built on stilts that characterize the island. Continue to Vilupulli Church, a National Monument; then its on to Chonchi, the "three-story town" whose houses are arranged in steps on a hillside. Stop at the Museum of Traditions before returning to Castro and making a visit to the San Francisco Church and the city's main plaza. Make one final stop at the colorful craft market on your way back to the ship.
Day 4: Puerto Montt, Chile
Choose from a full-day or two half-day optional excursions when you call at this port. Make a day out it when you go to the Petrohue Waterfalls and Todos Los Santos Lake. First, take a motorboat cruise on the Lake, also known as Emerald Lake, and enjoy views of the surrounding forest and snow-capped peaks. From here, travel to the Petrohue Rapids by coach and take a nature walk to get a better look. Finally, stop at Puerto Varas for breathtaking views of Lake Llanquihue and Mount Osorno. A shorter, half-day excursion also takes you to the Petrohue Rapids, where you can enjoy the spectacle of the inky-green waters as they crash through lava channels formed after the eruption of the Osorno in 1850.
Alternatively, enjoy a pleasant half-day city tour of Puerto Montt, the Lake District capital, and nearby towns. A coach brings you through several scenic ares, providing stops to explore along the way.
Day 5: At Sea
Enjoy the views from the deck as your ship enters into a vast network of fjords. The scenery continues to change as you make your way south.
Day 6: Tortel, Chile
Call early this morning in Tortel, Chile. Located between the Northern and Southern Patagonia Ice Fields, Tortel enjoys a unique position and provides and excellent entry point for your Chilean Fjord explorations.
Day 7-9: Cruising the Heart of the Chilean Fjords
There are no port calls scheduled on these day, as your time is spent navigating the fascinating system of fjords along the Chilean coast. Be sure to have your camera on hand for the spectacular views that are yours to behold.
Day 10: Puerto Natales, Chile / Torres del Paine National Park
Puerto Natales offers direct access to the remarkable Torres del Paine National Park, where you can appreciate a variety of natural beauties here at the end of the world. Choose from two full-day optional excursions to discover more. Join a panoramic coach tour that brings you to Sarmiento and Norenskjold Lakesm as well as to the Salto Grande, a grand waterfall. Here you habe time to walk around and get a closer view for photos. Enjoy lunch at a hosteria in the park before a relaxing ride back to the ship.
Alternatively, choose to join a trekking tour of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Leave your coach at Grey Lake to walk through forest and sandy terrai to reach Grey Beach. From here, observe iceflows in the distance. Continue trekking along the lake to get closer to the glacier. Enjoy lunch in the Serrano area. After, start heading back but along the way there are plenty of opportunities to take in the incredible landscape around you.
Day 11-13: Cruising around Cape Horn and the Beagle Channel
As you round Cape Horn, you have reached the southernmost tip of the continent! Take in the scenery, crack open your book, or take advantage on onboard amenities while your ship sails these historic water ways.
Day 14: Ushuaia, Argentina / Disembark
Following breakfast on board, disembark your ship. Transfer to the airport for your homeward flights.

This was my first experience with Adventure Life - and I couldn't have been more pleased with the trip. The guides and local staff in both Buenos Aires and Uruguay were terrific - extremely helpful and accommodating. I really enjoyed meeting the friendly staff in Buenos Aires in person (I left my bags with them for the afternoon).

Adventure Life has been an extraordinary travel resource for us over the years and today was no exception. Our River Cruise booking was handled by Jess (who has been our personal trip planner for several years) the same day as our inquiry. Suggestions were given for cabin choice and pre-trip options (that were not shown on the cruise line's website) like airport transfers and prepaid gratuities. Trip insurance recommendations followed and we were assigned a travel co-ordinator till the end of the tour. All we have to do is show up! Great service from friendly folks.

Our travel was flawless! The rider pickup (airport, hotel, ship) was seamless. Jane's recommendation for Emerald Cruise Sakara was everything I wanted but the experience was soooo much more. Adventure Life took care of each and every detail and this was the easiest of all my travels.
