Day 1

    Depart Quito - Arrive in Coca - Embark on Cruise

    Depart from Quito in the morning and after a 30 minute flight arrive at Francisco de Orellana (Coca). At the airport, meet your naturalist guides who will accompany you on a short transfer to the Napo River port. Embark on a motorized canoe ride downstream for approximately one and a half hours. During the trip listen to important information about the region. Once on board the Manatee Amazon Explorer, enjoy lunch and begin navigating down the Napo River. In the evening, there will be a welcome cocktail and a presentation about the trip, and an optional nocturnal tour by canoe or walk.

    Day 2

      Sani Warmi / Observation Tower

      Visit the Sani Warmi Kichwa Interpretation Center, where a group of Kichwa women will speak of their customs, cuisine and everyday life. They have created the center in order to showcase their culture, and it is a unique opportunity to learn about Amazonian lifestyles along the Napo River. In the afternoon, visit an observation tower which is 100-feet high and built against a giant kapok tree.

      Day 3

        Yasuni National Park / Yakukawsay

        Enjoy breakfast on board and take a walk within the Yasuni National Park. Seek out the secret to Amazonia's amazing biodiversity. After lunch, make a stop at the Yakukawsay Kichwa Interpretation Center and end with a fascinating evening walk through the forest.

        Day 4

          Pompeya / Napo River / Yasuni

          In the morning, visit the CICAME Ethnographic Museum to get to know and understand the human component of the Ecuadorian Amazon, especially that of the Huaorani, a reclusive jungle tribe.

          In the afternoon, navigate to a new visitor site, during which time we will continue admiring the surrounding jungle landscape. Sunsets in the Amazon Basin are majestic and depending on the weather conditions, we will be able to take a canoe ride down a jungle stream to discover more of this fascinating natural realm.

          Day 5

            Yasuni National Park

            After a delicious breakfast, disembark to explore the region by land. Learn about the relationship between plants and animals while you watch for samples of Amazonia's fascinating biodiversity. After lunch, navigate to one of the most pristine sections of Ecuadorian Amazonia, which is home to the legendary pink river dolphin, black caiman and anaconda. In the afternoon, visit one of the major black water lakes of the upper Amazon basin, the JatunCocha.

            Day 6

              Meeting the Locals of the Napo River

              In the morning, visit a school which is located on the banks of the Napo River, and have the opportunity to interact with the children. Return to the Manatee for lunch and a documentary screening as the ship sails upstream. In the afternoon, explore one of the largest river islands of the Napo River.

              Day 7

                Parrot Lick – Limoncocha Biological Reserve

                Breakfast will be served on board. Then begin your excursion to the Parrot Clay licks, the perfect place to see numerous bird species. Or, begin your excursion to the Yaku Kawsay or live underwater museum, inside of the Yasuní National Park. This interesting project from one of the Kichwa Communities that shows the fauna that lives underwater in the Amazon rivers and lakes.

                Back on board your lunch will be ready, and in the afternoon, there will be a visit to the Limoncocha Biological Reserve, an incredible area to find lots of birds, some monkeys, and at night a search for the black cayman. Return to the Manatee at night.

                Day 8

                  Disembark in Coca and Fly Quito

                  Return to the city of Coca to take the morning flight back to Quito. The canoe ride upstream will take around two hours.
