This 14-day expedition cruise takes you to Scorsbysund, on the northeast coast of Greenland, then to Iceland, and high above the Arctic Circle in Spitsbergen, Norway. Iconic arctic animals such as the polar bear, musk ox, reindeer and walrus are commonly seen. No other arctic adventure takes in such varied destinations ranging from active volcanoes to massive glaciers. If you want to experience the Arctic in all of its beauty, then you must venture to these three islands.
Highlights
Marvel at one of National Geographic Travelers’ 50 Tours of a Lifetime
Explore a remote fjord-strewn coast of Greenland
Experience the glaciers and wildlife of Spitsbergen
Hike the tundra, cruise in a zodiac, and join optional kayaking adventures
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Exploring Spitsbergen, the largest of the Norwegian-ruled Svalbard islands, rewards you with abundant wildlife and austere beauty. Here, visit spectacular glacier fronts and steep-walled fjords with walrus, polar bear, and Spitsbergen reindeer among your possible wildlife sightings. Birders prepare to be thrilled to see arctic terns, skuas, long-tailed ducks, kittiwakes, and glaucous and ivory gulls. As an added bonus, when conditions are right, you could sail within 10° of the North Pole!
While sailing the historic Greenland Sea, learn about the wildlife and history of Greenland, your next stop. On deck learn to identify seabirds on the wing. Take in a lecture, share photos, sip an icy cocktail in the bar, or watch a movie - there are many things to do during your time at sea.
During your tour of Greenland’s remote eastern coast, enjoy sea-level Zodiac cruises and shore visits to several locations. Visit the remains of ancient Thule settlements, and keep an eye out for grazing musk oxen, as 40% of the world’s population of this fascinating mammal lives here. Finally, sail through spectacular Scoresbysund, the birthplace of many icebergs, and, some say, the most beautiful fjord system in the world.
At sea, the Denmark Strait is your pathway east, towards Iceland. Your onboard Expedition Team keeps you informed and entertained with presentations about the history of exploration in the Arctic and the seabirds that inevitably soar above your ship.

Kate was great to work with in the planning stage. She was prompt, helpful, and efficient. Our tour guide, Edwin, was knowledgeable and passionate. We were very happy to have traveled with Adventure Life, it made the trip easy and a true pleasure. We could concentrate on enjoying the experience rather than the details of travel.

Personal knowledge of the trip I was considering. Patience with our figuring out which dates we could travel.

Clara and Rhenee were gracious and available. Phone contact is so important to answer questions and discuss all aspects of trip. If not immediately available they scheduled a time to speak.
They were knowledgeable, honest, realistic and very friendly. They are both very professional and take their role seriously.

The ability (of Kassandra) to tailor a guided trip to my exact preferences is very valuable to me, as well as the ability (of Kassandra) to provide expert guidance on destinations and travel dates. I also appreciate the ability of the backup staff (Maria Ignacio, Exito Travel) to coordinate all the details to make the travel logistics easy for the customer.

Our Costa Rica trip was amazing! Kassandra planned everything and the excursions, hotels, overall organization were outstanding. Everything worked out smoothly, the excursions guides were knowledgeable allowing us to see so much of the fauna and flora of the country. The hotels were great as well, all in fantastic locations and with beautiful views.
