Embark on an extreme polar voyage to the alpine peaks of West Greenland. Explore the West of Greenland on your mountain skis or snowshoes and spot wildlife aboard sailing vessel Rembrandt van Rijn or from the Greenland shores on this exciting Arctic cruise.
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Arrive from Copenhagen or Keflavik at the Nuuk airport on the scheduled flights (flight not included in the voyage cost) and transfer to the ship. Embarkation starts at 16.00 hrs local time. Passengers who have arrived earlier will have time to do some independent and self-guided local outdoor sightseeing until the embarkation process starts (please bring warm and waterproof clothes). The ship will depart in the early evening into the interior fjords of Nuuk.
Spend today in the fjord system East of Nuuk for a ski mountaineering excursion whilst the non-skiers can snowshoe around the beautiful landscape. The ski mountaineers may climb up to Mount Sadlen and the snow walkers can enjoy a walk on the lower slopes. In the evening, on the way north, the crew may rig the sails on all three masts, wind and weather conditions allowing.
In the morning, arrive in the Maniitsoq area. The town of Maniitsoq is nestled on an island at the mouth of a fjord surrounded by peaks above 2000 meters. The port of Maniitsoq is ice free from late spring to early winter. Here we will find a ski and snowshoe tour for the afternoon. The rugged mountains tower from the sea and the views from this height are great. Later, the ship sails North to Eternity Fjord.
Spend the day is the beautiful outdoors near Sermitsiaq glacier. Skiers may climb a 1000m peak at the interior of Taaterat Glacier while the snowshoe walkers explore the rugged glacier fronts which come all the way down to sea level.
The Northern slopes of the mountains surrounding the Kangerdluarssuat fjord North of Kangaamiut may offer promising ski outings. The snowshoe walkers can opt for an easy route while the ski mountaineers scale higher peaks and pick a downhill run. After the exciting day activities, enjoy a great scenic evening cruise.
The slopes of the mountains surrounding Kangerluarsuat are ideal for both skiers and snowshoe walkers. The snow conditions govern the best options for the day.
Hamborgerland offers rugged scenery and mountain tops that are flanked by impressive glaciers. North facing slopes become a playground for alpine descents. In the evening we will depart towards Maniitsoq and enjoy the evening hours at sea.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!

Adventure Life has been an extraordinary travel resource for us over the years and today was no exception. Our River Cruise booking was handled by Jess (who has been our personal trip planner for several years) the same day as our inquiry. Suggestions were given for cabin choice and pre-trip options (that were not shown on the cruise line's website) like airport transfers and prepaid gratuities. Trip insurance recommendations followed and we were assigned a travel co-ordinator till the end of the tour. All we have to do is show up! Great service from friendly folks.

Our travel was flawless! The rider pickup (airport, hotel, ship) was seamless. Jane's recommendation for Emerald Cruise Sakara was everything I wanted but the experience was soooo much more. Adventure Life took care of each and every detail and this was the easiest of all my travels.
