Day 1 Athens / Embark
Arrive in Athens, and make your way to your hospitality suite at the Electra Palace Hotel, located in the shadow of the Acropolis. After lunch in Athens, travel to Piraeus, embark Sea Cloud and cast lines immediately, enjoying your first Grecian sunset at sea. (L,D)
Day 2 At Sea / Sifnos
Be on deck this morning as Sea Cloud’s sails are hoisted the old-fashioned way: by hand. Nimble riggers climb the impressive masts in what seems like choreographed precision. Once hoisted, our Captain will navigate the Aegean under sail. Arrive in Sifnos this afternoon. Distinguished for its pottery and its Venetian dovecotes, Sifnos is a rugged island with a harbor village and upper chora (village), waterfront tavernas and convenient beaches. This island is a hidden gem.(B,L,D)
Day 3 At Sea / Folégandros
At Folégandros head up to the stunning cliff side town of Hora. Folégandros is a quintessential "undiscovered" island, with tremendous charm and just a relative handful of visitors. This afternoon the crew climb the rigging and set sail and chart a course for the renowned island of Santoríni. (B,L,D)
Day 4 Santoríni
Santoríni is an island archipelago that was once a single volcanic cone. It erupted some 3,600 years ago burying what some say was legendary island of Atlantis. Stand on deck as you sail into the caldera, the center of the old volcano, and observe the cliffs from the sea. On shore, drive through windswept vineyards characteristic of Santoríni, and along the rimmed town of Oia before visiting the main town of Thira. Perched high on the volcanic cliff, Thira affords unrivaled views of the caldera below. Santoríni is, quite simply, one of the most spectacular islands on earth. (B,L,D)
Day 5 At Sea
Today set the sails and leave them up all day long, sailing among the scenic Cycladic islands, watching the crew up in the rigging, trimming the sails. Hear presentations from Historians and Naturalist, catch-up on reading and experience the 5-star service and cuisine for which the Sea Cloud is famous. And you might even go for a swim or make an impromptu stop in the late afternoon. (B,L,D)
Day 6 At Sea / Naxos
After a morning under sail, reach Naxos, the center of Cycladic art 5,000 years ago. Visit the ancient village of Apeiranthos, with its marble-paved streets, two-story stone houses, and charming cafés. (B,L,D)
Day 7 Delos / At Sea
This morning land at tiny Delos, where the twin gods Artemis, goddess of animals and the hunt, and Apollo, god of healing, reason, and light, were said to have been born. Explore, among other places, the Street of the Lions and the marble Temple of Apollo. In the afternoon set off, once again, under sail toward Piraeus. (B,L,D)
Day 8 Pireaus / Disembark
Disembark Sea Cloud this morning for transfers to Athens airport for your return flights home. (B)

Sea Cloud

- Luxury Expedition Ship
The Sea Cloud is a glorious and gracious luxury sailing yacht, a four-masted bark, custom built in 1931 by the business magnate E.F. Hutton for his wife the heiress, Marjorie Merriweather Post.
Her sleek, snow-white hull elegantly curves from stem to stern and her masts stretch high into the sky. The ship’s decks offer the grandeur of rich mahogany, teak and gleaming brass and the magnificent golden eagle figurehead seems poised to fly across the waters. There is no ship afloat that can compare for grace, fine service and the sheer joy of sailing.
Sails are raised by hand by a spirited crew. She carries 30 sails measuring a total of 32,000 square feet. Although the ship is enormously elegant, she is also friendly and informal, making for a relaxed time. Dress aboard ship is also relaxed and casual.
Public Areas
The elegance continues in the public areas. The covered Lido Bar is a superb place to congregate and enjoy the outdoors. The open-air “Blue Lagoon” is a wonderful place to relax. The sumptuous Lounge is the venue for talks and presentations by the expedition staff. Guests are welcome on the “Open Bridge” to learn how Sea Cloud is navigated and sailed.
Dining
Meals are served in single seatings, and meals focus on local and Continental cuisine. Wines are included at lunch and dinner. Refreshments are always available. Dress is relaxed and casual.
Accommodations
Cabins have antique and period-style furniture. The Main Deck has the ship’s original cabins, including the Owner’s Suites originally occupied by E.F. Hutton and Marjorie Merriweather Post.
