Day 1: Philipsburg, St Martin

It's been some 300 years since the Dutch and French established a truce on tiny St. Maarten, dividing the island into two delightfully distinct yet amicable parts. So amicable, in fact, that you can cross back and forth freely from one side to the other. Philipsburg is the vivacious capital of the Dutch half. Along Front Street, the citrus-colored buildings are home to gourmet restaurants, lively casinos and some of the best duty-free shopping in the world. Pause for a taste of the local guavaberry rum, listen to street musicians play on the broad boardwalk or head to the French-side village of Grand Case for conch fritters and quaint Creole architecture. Embark the Wind Spirit this afternoon and prepare for your upcoming small ship cruise.

Day 2-3: At Sea

This is your invitation to a day of indulgence. Treat yourself to a luxurious spa experience. Stretch out by the pool with your favorite beverage. Grab a great book or your favorite movie from the library. Stretch your muscles with our state-of-the-art fitness equipment. Dine in sumptuous casual style, or wrap yourself in that comfy waffle-weave robe and enjoy your meal in the privacy of your beautiful stateroom. Your delight is the single priority for your day at sea.

Day 4: Oranjestad, Aruba

When it comes to a Caribbean trip, many islands are blessed with sugar-white beaches, tall palm trees, and friendly bartenders serving up umbrella-topped drinks. But Aruba is like no other island. Over the years, its Dutch West Indies mix of ethnicities has nurtured a deep and interesting cultural mélange—as well as fine cuisine, refined shopping, and vibrant stage shows. Add to that an outdoor world of internationally significant locations for fun-seeking folks of all ages. There is simply no better place on the planet to learn and enjoy windsurfing. The world-renowned steady breezes that fill the sails also keep you cool in a deep Caribbean location that is blissfully below the hurricane path. Sun always shines on this pristine beaches, and that brings a truly global group of travelers to her shores.

Day 5: At Sea

Another day to rest and relax on board the luxurious Wind Spirit as your ship cruises towards South America and Columbian shores.

Day 6: Cartagena, Columbia

Welcome to the sparkling city of Cartagena, where the gold and jewels of the Spanish Main awaited shipment across the Atlantic. No pirate could resist, nor will you be able to when you visit this historic city. The Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is surrounded by 400-year-old walls and contains a plethora of churches, fortresses, and restored colonial mansions. It’s easy enough to explore the narrow alleyways by foot, but much more atmospheric to hop aboard a horse-drawn carriages. Where to? How about the Gold Museum, the Inquisition Museum, or the fortress-like cathedral. Outside the walls are more treasures: Climb the massive Castillo de San Felipe to investigate its maze of hidden tunnels, or shop for the perfect emerald.

Day 7: At Sea

Enjoy one final day of ultimate relaxation on board your ship. Tomorrow you will find yourself on the tropical shores of Panama, so make the most of the amenities on board your sailing vessel today.

Day 8: Colon, Panama

Colón’s history has always been defined by the desire for the riches of its natural resources. From its gold and silver to its value as a trade route made possible by the Panama Canal, Colón is today known for the Zona Libre – the largest free-trade zone in the Americas. The Zona Libre links producers in North America, the Far East, and Europe with the Latin American market. As such, it is home to more than 1,600 companies and several dozen banks. Far less commercial, the area surrounding the city encompasses pristine beaches, lowland rainforests, splendid colonial architecture, and wonders of modern engineering. This variety of environments allows a wide range of activities that include snorkeling in the clear Caribbean waters, exploring ruins, or even marveling at the massive locks on the other side of the Panama Canal. You will disembark this morning for your continued journey home.

This was my first experience with Adventure Life - and I couldn't have been more pleased with the trip. The guides and local staff in both Buenos Aires and Uruguay were terrific - extremely helpful and accommodating. I really enjoyed meeting the friendly staff in Buenos Aires in person (I left my bags with them for the afternoon).
