With more than four percent of the world's wildlife species living within its borders, Costa Rica is decidedly one of the most biologically diverse places on the planet. From pristine rain forests to glorious palm-fringed beaches, the "rich coast" lives up to its name in every imaginable way.
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
An industrial port complex for both cruise ships and cargo vessels, Puerto Caldera belongs to the Esparza Puntarenas Province. There are no passenger amenities in Puerto Caldera except for a small, air-conditioned terminal with restrooms, information desk, public phones and a small selection of craft vendors. There is also an International Calling Center which accepts major calling cards. The unspoiled natural beauty of the region is one of Puerto Caldera's main attractions. Its rain forest, which start just inside the coastline and continue up into the mountain ranges, contain rivers, waterfalls, parks and wildlife preserves.
Day 2: At Sea
Day 3: San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua
San Juan del Sur is a tranquil fishing village nestled at the head of a horseshoe-shaped bay on the Pacific coast of southern Nicaragua. The lovely bay is peppered with small, private yachts and commercial fishing boats. Sign up for a shore excursion and see it all: Visit one of Nicargua's national parks to observe the active Masaya Volcano. Shop for treasures at the Indian Market. And arrive in Grenada with ample time to stroll its colonnades.
Day 4: Playas Del Coco, Costa Rica
The view from the Bay includes Pelonas Islands, Cacique Point to the northwest and Centinela Point.
Day 5: Quepos, Costa Rica
The former banana-exporting town of Quepos is your basecamp for a day of rainforest adventure. Take a walk along trails that weave up to waterfalls, or ride horseback to a beautiful jungle pool. A float trip through a mangrove swamp populated by monkeys, crocodiles, egrets, and herons is also available. Or you may choose a nature walk through Manuel Antonio National Park, with its lovely beaches, easy trails, and animal life.
Day 6: Bahia Drake, Costa Rica
The Wind Star will anchor in Bahia Drake and guests will be transferred to San Josecito beach situated near the Corcovado National Park. San Josecito is only accessible by boat. Corcovado National Park is protected by a natural rocky barrier where the waves break. It is very picturesque with two lovely beaches and safe swimming due to the natural barrier of the rocks. Snorkeling is good here too and when it is low tide it is possible to walk the rocks and explore them. There is also access to trails leading to Corcovado National Park.
Sign up for a shore excursion and see it all: Visit one of Nicargua's national parks to observe the active Masaya Volcano. Shop for treasures at the Indian Market. And arrive in Grenada with ample time to stroll its colonnades.
Day 7: Curu (Reserve) & Tortuga Island, Costa Rica
Spend a morning exploring the Curu National Wildlife Refuge—a private reserve of which two-thirds is preserved as primary forest. The reserve includes 4.5 kilometers of coastline, with tiny coves and three beaches. Although it is small, there is an abundance of wildlife to be seen in this reserve—including up to 200 species of birds! Be on the lookout for capuchin and howler monkeys, as well as sloths and anteaters. The Wind Star will anchor and guests will be transferred by zodiac for a beach landing.
Tortuga Island is actually two islands – uninhabited and picture perfect– that lie just off the Nicoya Peninsula. Characterized by palm-fringed beaches and lush tropical flora, Tortuga is pretty and peaceful and offers terrific sheltered swimming and snorkeling in warm waters. Isla Tortuga lies three kilometers offshore. The ship relocates there before lunch for you to enjoy a beach BBQ and beach water sports.
Day 8: Disembark in Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica
Return to your staring location, Puerto Caldera, for disembarkation.

Kate was great to work with in the planning stage. She was prompt, helpful, and efficient. Our tour guide, Edwin, was knowledgeable and passionate. We were very happy to have traveled with Adventure Life, it made the trip easy and a true pleasure. We could concentrate on enjoying the experience rather than the details of travel.

Adventure Life took care of everything! All we had to do was show up when we were supposed to, which made our first trip to Costa Rica largely stress-free and incredibly fun. Our trip reps, Hannah and Mariethony, were helpful and responsive, getting back to us by email usually within a few hours. Our accommodations were all great, and we got incredibly blessed with some absolutely stellar guides and drivers.
Our Jungle & Beach trip was an excellent balance of adventure and rest. We got to try out a lot of different activities, including snorkeling, hiking, white water rafting and kayaking, while also partaking of some rest around the pool or by the ocean. We enjoyed seeing and exploring the beautiful Caribbean side of the country.

For our first trip to Costa Rica, Adventure Life designed a tour that meets the interests, ecological and adventure, of our party; but also takes into account our physical limitations sine we are all septuagenarian. We are looking forward to the trip.

COSTA RICA a trip of a life time travelling round this beautiful country. All went like clockwork even when the weather was against us and all transfers seemed to be part of the holiday not a chore. Would definitely use Adventure Life again having previously used them 20 years ago!!

Everything worked out smoothly, the excursions guides were knowledgeable allowing us to see so much of the fauna and flora of the country.
