Join the Yorktown this spring as she sails around Florida's peninsula, exploring the area's stunning natural beauty and its Gilded Age charm. Enjoy the beautifully preserved beaches of Sanibel Island, filled with colorful seashells. Glimpse endangered species at the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and at Crocodile Lake National Wildlife Refuge. Discover the Florida Keys, a string of islands spanning 126 miles. And take a step back in time, to the Gilded Age, with visits to Villa Vizcaya and the Ringling Museum, with its exact replica of the circus at its prime. A highlight of this voyage is the full day excursion to Everglades National Park, filled with mysterious flora and fauna. Your journey concludes with a visit to the remote Cumberland Island, with its picturesque sand dunes and incredible wildlife.
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Visit the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, housed in a massive estate where they resided in winter. Aside from its impressive collection of European and American art, the real highlight is the scaled down replica of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. The replica displays the circus exactly as it was during its most successful and opulent years. Spend time at leisure to explore Sarasota’s galleries, cafes, shops and historic buildings.
Day 3: Sanibel Island
Sanibel Island is known for its seashell-strewn beaches. Visit the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, home of the largest old growth Bald Cypress Forest in North America as well as 200 bird species.
Day 4-5: Florida Keys - Key West & Key Largo
Consisting of a 126-mile long string of low-lying islands, the Florida Keys are noted for their inviting jade-green waters, ideal for swimming and snorkeling, and rich marine life. Visit Key West, the southernmost in the chain, where Ernest Hemingway lived from 1931-1940; and Key Largo, where the John Pennecamp Coral Reef State Park provides an excellent opportunity to explore the surrounding reef and its dazzling marine life.
Day 6: Miami / Everglades National Park
Enjoy a full day excursion to the Everglades, the magnificent national park. The Everglades is a shallow, wide, and slow flowing river filled with hundreds of species of plants, trees, and birds. Alternately, spend the day exploring vibrant Miami, with its colorful architecture and chic art galleries. Enjoy a tour of the museum and gardens at picturesque Villa Vizcaya.
Day 7: Palm Beach
Arrive at scenic Palm Beach, which for years was the premier winter destination for families like the Rockefellers and Kennedys. Visit the Flagler Museum, housed in a Gilded Age mansion known as Whitehall. Enjoy a guided tour of the museum and its grounds.
Day 8: Cape Canaveral
Spend the day discovering the Kennedy Space Center. This inspiring complex was built in conjunction with the creation of NASA in 1958. Shortly after its inception the center quickly became an iconic fixture to the United States’ dedication to space exploration. The center exhibits an incredible history but perhaps most fascinating about a visit here is the possibility of what future expeditions will bring. Alternatively, spend the day exploring Merrit Island National Wildlife Refuge.
Day 9: St Augustine
Explore historic St. Augustine, the oldest continuously inhabited city in the continental United States. Settled by the Spanish St. Augustine in 1565, the city withstood many attacks and eventually a fort was built. Explore the Castillo de San Marcos, completed in 1695 whose weathered masonry has withstood centuries of invasions. There will also be time to stroll along St. George Street in the historic district, with its smart shops, art galleries, and Spanish colonial buildings.
Day 10: Amelia Island / St Marys / Cumberland Island, Georgia
Arrive in port at lovely Amelia Island, Florid's northernmost barrier island. Explore charming Fernandina Beach, with its 50 blocks of historic buildings. Visit Fort Clinch, built in 1847. Over lunch sail to nearby St. Marys, just over the border in Georgia.
From St. Marys take a local ferry to nearby Cumberland Island, the largest wilderness island in the country. The island has hosted British colonists Spanish missionaries, and the Carnegies, who built several mansions that are still standing. In 1972, the island was purchased by the federal government and they established the Cumberland Island National Seashore in order to protect the unique wildlife. Explore Cumberland’s historic sites, as well as the rich bird and animal life in the company of park rangers.
Day 11: Savannah / Disembark
Disembark and transfer to the airport for return flights.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!

Adventure Life has been an extraordinary travel resource for us over the years and today was no exception. Our River Cruise booking was handled by Jess (who has been our personal trip planner for several years) the same day as our inquiry. Suggestions were given for cabin choice and pre-trip options (that were not shown on the cruise line's website) like airport transfers and prepaid gratuities. Trip insurance recommendations followed and we were assigned a travel co-ordinator till the end of the tour. All we have to do is show up! Great service from friendly folks.

Our travel was flawless! The rider pickup (airport, hotel, ship) was seamless. Jane's recommendation for Emerald Cruise Sakara was everything I wanted but the experience was soooo much more. Adventure Life took care of each and every detail and this was the easiest of all my travels.
