Begin your journey with a 3-night stay in picturesque Cape Town. Then fly to Kasane, Botswana to begin your 4-night Zambezi Queen safari cruise on the Chobe River. Explore the banks of Chobe National Park, home to one of the densest populations of wildlife on the African continent. Encounter elephants, leopards, lions, gazelles and buffalos on excursions by boat or open-air vehicle. Your journey continues with two nights at the legendary Victoria Falls, one of the world’s great natural wonders. From here, join the Rovos Rail train to enjoy a 3-night luxurious train journey as you travel almost 1,000 miles through breathtaking scenery from Botswana to South Africa.

Arrive in Cape Town, South Africa

Situated amidst majestic mountains and lined with pristine white sand beaches, Cape Town is home to a rich cultural and historical heritage with vibrant restaurants and remarkable sightseeing activities. After your airport greeting, transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the evening is at your leisure.

Day 2

Cape Town, South Africa

Your full-day tour starts with a cable car journey up the famous Table Mountain, which offers magnificent views from its summit. After your visit to the top, head off on a scenic drive through the wine regions outside Cape Town – Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl. Visit two famous wine estates to taste various South African wines. Also tour a private cellar and enjoy a tasting at a wine estate owned by golf champion and award-winning winemaker Ernie Els, a native of South Africa. Enjoy lunch with drinks at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel.

Day 3

Cape Town, South Africa

After breakfast at your hotel, journey by motor coach along the Atlantic Seaboard, past the 12 Apostles and Hout Bay and through Chapman’s Peak, one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world. Also see the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and majestic Cape Point, where you can venture to the famous Cape Point Lighthouse. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a visit to Boulders Beach for an exciting close-up encounter with African penguins.

Day 4

Kasane, Botswana / Embark

After breakfast, fly to Kasane, Botswana and board the Zambezi Queen. This afternoon, enjoy the view as you settle in on the Chobe River before a Welcome Cocktail and Dinner on board the vessel.

Day 5

Chobe National Park, Botswana

Today experience your first safari game drive into the Chobe National Park, home to one of the densest populations of wildlife in Africa. Set off in search for an array of different animals in Botswana’s most famous National Park. From here, journey back to the Zambezi Queen for lunch as well as time to relax and enjoy the scenery. Tonight savor your dinner on board, followed by an entertaining presentation about the history of the Chobe area.

Day 6

Kasenu Village, Botswana

This morning travel for an unforgettable visit to Kasenu village and experience the local culture first-hand. If you prefer to use your time in search of more animals, you can join a morning safari by boat as you explore the banks of Chobe National Park. Return to the vessel for lunch and relaxation, then depart for a river safari along with sundowner drinks. Towards the end of your river safari by boat, take in the famous African sunset from the vantage point of the Chobe River. This evening, head ashore for an African Boma Dinner, featuring various flavorful local specialties. Tonight, your Cruise Manager shows you the African sky, pointing out southern hemisphere constellations.

Day 7

Cruising the Chobe River, Botswana

You have a choice of exciting water activities throughout the day. Options include a private boat safari, a bird watching excursion, or an expedition to catch the ferocious tigerfish. Today you can also enjoy a slightly different version of a river safari aboard a special river barge which allows you to venture into new areas of the Chobe River. This excursion offers a new vantage point to observe hippos and elephants in their natural habitat. Tonight, your Cruise Manager hosts a Farewell Dinner on board.

Day 8

Disembark at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

This morning, transfer to the legendary Victoria Falls, one of the greatest natural wonders on earth. Settle into your hotel and spend the afternoon exploring the city or experiencing one of the many activities offered at your hotel.

Day 9

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

A local guide and your Cruise Manager take you on a tour of the remarkable Victoria Falls today. Learn about its history and the flora and fauna that make this area so unique. Tonight, embark on a private and festive Sundowner Cruise along the Zambezi River. Relax on board as you observe a variety of game and enjoy a delicious mix of tapas with drinks and music.

Victoria Falls - Rovos Rail

Today depart Victoria Falls on the luxurious Rovos Rail train. Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and spend the early afternoon at leisure before being escorted just minutes away to the Victoria Falls Station. Join your fellow travelers in the midway Lounge Car or Observation Car this afternoon. Relax and enjoy the rich African scenery as you pass into the Hwange Game Reserve. Dinner is served in the dining cars tonight en route to Kennedy Siding for your overnight stop.

Hwange Game Reserve, Zimbabwe

Enjoy breakfast in the dining car with the other guests as your second day onboard this luxurious train begins. Today is an early wake up in order to disembark for your safari in the Hwange Game Reserve. After returning to the train, enjoy brunch as you journey towards Botswana in the afternoon. Take in the African landscape from the Lounge or Observation Car, or even your own Deluxe Suite. Delectable dinner selections are served on board for you to savor.

Rovos Rail

Today enjoy breakfast en route to the border via Botswana’s capital city, Gaborone. Shortly after, enter into South Africa, your third and final country during this voyage. Lunch is served in the dining car as the train travels through the farmlands of the Marico Valley. Savor your last afternoon on the train as you prepare for your final dinner onboard. Dinner takes place as the train traverses the Magaliesberg Range.

This morning your train journey comes to a close, but not before you enjoy one last breakfast on board and a final scenic voyage. After your late morning arrival in Pretoria, South Africa, transfer to the airport in Johannesburg, about an hour away, for you onward flight home.
