This 5-day Northern Islands Galapagos cruise explores the islands of Genovesa, Bartolome, Santiago and more. Snorkel with sea lions, view the famous dance of the blue-footed boobies, and see the giant tortoises which gave this archipelago its name.
Highlights
Red beach and volcanic cliffs of Rabida
Famous Pinnacle rock and White Sand Beach.
Voyage to Buccaneer Cove steeped in pirate history
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Arrive at the Baltra airport and transfer to the Santa Cruz II.
Begin your Galapagos adventure by sailing to and swimming at Bachas Beach. View the floating pier which was left by Americans after World War II. View flamingos, Sally Lightfoot crabs, hermit crabs, black necked stilts, and whimbrels.
In the morning, voyage to Buccaneer Cove and view where pirates used to drop anchor in order to make repairs and stock up on food supplies, such as tortoise meat. Walk up towards the cliffs for panoramic views of the island.
After lunch, travel to Puerto Egas to see the old salt mines. Closed during the 1960's, hike to the salt crater to sight land birds such as finches, doves, and hawks. Walk along the shoreline to fine tide-pools and sea caves where fur seals make their home.
Named for the color of its sand, Red Beach also features cliffs and steep slopes of volcanic cinders which are reddish in color. Hike up a short trail to a flamingo lagoon or snorkel along the reef.
In the afternoon, sail for Bartolome to visit the famous Pinnacle rock and White Sand Beach.
Sail for El Barranco (Prince Phillip’s Steps) and climb the wooden trail to the cliffs. Pass seabird colonies and a thin palo santo forest. At the top of the steps, view masked and red-footed boobies, great frigate birds, swallow-tailed gulls, red-billed tropicbirds and hundreds of storm petrels.
After lunch, make your way to Darwin Bay and land on its coral beach. Take a short trail through seabird colonies and view marine iguanas along the shore.

The trip was terrific with great planning on your part. Most of the adventures were not mainstream and somewhat off the beaten path which made it especially enjoyable!! We felt taken care of and you all were readily available to respond to questions and issues. I would highly recommend your company and friends have already expressed interest based on our pictures and excitement.

I spoke with at least a half dozen other travel companies, looking for a Galapagos cruise that fit our schedule and budget. Some companies could manage one or the other, but Erin was the only one who could do both. She found us the perfect cruise, at a fantastic price! And she has been quick and patient with responses to my many questions. So far, Adventure Life has been a fantastic company to work with!
