Day 1 Baltra | Embark | Highlands | Charles Darwin Research Station, Santa Cruz Island

  • Ship
  • 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Today your guide awaits for you at Baltra Airport and takes you to the Archipell Catamaran which anchors in Puerto Ayora harbor. After arrival on board, check in and receive general information, then enjoy your first lunch on board.

Afterwards get ready for your first excursion visit to the Highlands of Santa Cruz Island, and see incredible areas of vegetation. Later visit the private farm “Las Primicias”. This reserve offers you one of the best possibilities to see giant Galapagos tortoises of Santa Cruz Island in their natural habitat. You can observe them from a very close distance.

Then stop at Charles Darwin Research Station, which features an information center, a museum, a library and a tortoise breeding station. In the tortoise breeding station you can encounter tortoises of different subspecies, which get prepared for reintroduction to their natural habitats. This was the home of the famous Lonesome George turtle.

Day 2 Cormorant Point | Post Office Bay | Baroness Lookout Point, Floreana

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Today land at Cormorant Point´s green olivine sand beach. After following a 100 m long path, reach a beautiful lagoon with flamingoes.

In the afternoon visit Post Office Bay, which still keeps the legendary post barrel that whalers historically used to post their mail in. Then go to “Mirador de la Baronesa”(Baroness Lookout Point) where your naturalist guide tells you about the murder and mystery legend of Baronesa. This viewpoint is located on the north of Floreana Island. The climb on the trails is very easy. For security reasons in this area there are placed steps.

Day 3 Gardner Bay | Suarez Point, Española

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Explore an abundance of natural wildlife on Española Island. It is home to various species of birds such as the hood-mockingbird. Enjoy excellent swimming at Gardner Bay and snorkel to find various species of fish and sometimes turtles and sharks. The bay is also frequented by colonies of sea lions, which swim playfully with people.

Afterwards visit Suarez Point, one of the most outstanding wildlife areas of the archipelago. An abundance of species are found along its cliffs and beaches.

Day 4 Pitt Point | Brujo Hill, San Cristobal

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
This morning stop at Pitt Point, one of the only two sites where all of the three types of boobies breed and it is also the site where great frigate birds and swallow tailed gulls are seen. You can also spot Galapagos storm-petrels.

Afterwards visit Brujo Hill, one of the first sites visited by Charles Darwin. This fascinating lava landscape is located on the northeast coast of San Cristóbal Island. On the rocks you can observe boobies, sea gulls and some pelicans. The protected bay is very popular for young ocean turtles and rays.

Day 5 Lobos Island, San Cristobal | Galapaguera

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
On Lobos Island, enjoy swimming and snorkeling with sea lions. It is also a seasonal nesting location for the blue footed booby and frigate birds.

In the afternoon visit the Galapaguera, located in the northeast part of San Cristobal Island. This center has been created to conserve the San Cristobal tortoise species and has the goal to lead and guide the tourists in conservation topics and protection of the environment. An attractive trail native plants leads to meeting giant tortoises in their natural habitat.

Day 6 South Plazas Island | Santa Fe Island

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
South Plaza has unique Sesuvium plants and Opuntia cactuses scattered across the landscape which provide some of the most interesting wildlife observations available in Galapagos. Land iguanas are easily seen from the trail hiding under the shade of cactuses, waiting for a prickly pear to fall.

Santa Fe is one of the most entertaining destinations for shore excursions at Galapagos Islands. It has two trail choices for visitors, one of which takes you to the tallest Opuntia cactus in the Galapagos, while the other trail takes you into the highlands where land iguanas can be found. After a long walk, the opportunity to swim in calm waters or snorkel with playful sea lions is pretty tempting.

Day 7 Peace Asylum | Loberia, Floreana

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Peace Asylum is a visitor site where an artisan spring is located. This spring attracted pirates, whalers and later settlers to Floreana as it was one of the very few year-round sources of fresh water in the Galapagos. La Cueva de los Piratas (Pirate’s Cave) is quite literally where pirates carved temporary shelter out of soft stone and is also the place where one of the original settlers landed.

La Loberia is a small beach, which is home to a colony of sea lions, as well as some marine iguanas. It’s possible to walk there from town for some recreational snorkeling. If you’re lucky, the sea lions join you! Fortunate snorkelers may spot a ray or a shark.

Day 8 Disembark | The Twins, Santa Cruz Island | Baltra

  • 1 Breakfast
On your last day, visit “Los Gemelos” (The Twins), two enormous collapsed lava chambers, inspiring visual reminder of the power of nature. The short, easy hike to each of the twins is teeming with endemic flora and fauna, including the remaining Scalesia Forest draped in liverwort. After this visit be transferred to the Baltra airport for your flight back to mainland Ecuador.

This was my first experience with Adventure Life - and I couldn't have been more pleased with the trip. The guides and local staff in both Buenos Aires and Uruguay were terrific - extremely helpful and accommodating. I really enjoyed meeting the friendly staff in Buenos Aires in person (I left my bags with them for the afternoon).
