Western Islands Cruise

Enjoy this 8-day cruise through the western islands of the Galapagos. Get ready to see an abundance of unique wildlife including flamingos, frigatebirds, and iguanas, and enjoy some friendly interaction with the island's playful sea lions. Highlights of the west include beautiful Santa Cruz, wildlife-rich Isabela, cliff-laden Fernandina, and the amazing black beaches of Santiago. The wildlife here is abundant and the landscape is stunning to behold, making this an incredible vacation.

Day 1

Baltra - Santa Cruz Island

Arrive at the Baltra airport and transfer to the Mary Anne. Attend a short seminar to learn about the boat and the islands.

Set sail for Santa Cruz Island and visit the highlands. The highlands are located on the northern part of the island, and you can pass through all seven vegetation zones which are found in the archipelago. View a variety of birds, such as the Galápagos flycatcher, small tree finches, and woodpecker finches.

Day 2

In the morning, travel to Floreana and land at Cormorant Point. Known for its volcanic green olivine crystals which are found on the beaches, Cormorant also features a short trail which takes travelers to a saltwater lagoon. See the tracks of Green sea turtles on the sand, as they lay their eggs on the white sand beaches at night.

In the afternoon, travel to Devil’s Crown for some of the best snorkeling in the Galapagos. A collapsed volcanic cone, Devil's Crown features an abundance of sea life. Sharks, sea lions, sea turtles and eels can all be found among the rocks.

Day 3

Santa Cruz Island

Explore the Santa Cruz Highlands. Walk along a path and observe the hills, ferns, volcanoes, and rich wildlife of the area. View giant tortoises, forest, mockingbirds, Bahama ducklings, White-cheeked Pintail ducklings, Darwin finches, and many other species.

In the afternoon, explore the underground lava tubs with your local guides.

Day 4

Visit Moreno Point and take a dinghy ride along its striking rocky shores. Spot green sea turtles or white-tip sharks in the tidal pools around the coast.

Sail for Elizabeth Bay and view penguins and Blue-footed Boobies from the dinghy. Snorkel with the abundant marine life.

Day 5

Isabela - Fernandina

In the morning, travel to Urbina Bay to view Land iguanas, hawks, coral reef and giant tortoises. Urbina Bay experienced a major uplift in 1954 which expanded the coastline and trapped various marine life within its shores.

After lunch, explore Espinosa Point. This point features one of the world's most pristine island ecosystems, never having been invaded by a foreign species. The volcano La Cumbre dominates the landscape.

Travel to Espumilla Beach, a popular location for viewing marine iguanas and Sally Lightfoot Crabs. Grab a snorkel and view octopi, moray eel, and sharks in the water.

From Espumilla, set sail for Egas Port and view Galapagos Hawks and Quick-footed Galapagos Lava Lizards. Take a trail across the coastline and view tidal pools and grottos, which are home to Galapagos Fur Sea Lions. Snorkel in the clear warm pools or relax on the beach.

Day 8

North Seymour - Baltra

Sail for North Seymour Island to view Galapagos sea lions, blue-footed boobies, and magnificent frigatebirds. Characterized by its arid vegetation zone, North Seymour is unique in landscape and feel.

Transfer to the airport and connect back to the mainland.
