Day 1: Field Ecology on Santa Cruz Island

  • 1 Lunch
Spend the day with Ecology Project International (EPI) being a part of their science education and conservation efforts in Galapagos. Head into the field in the morning and join EPI students for field ecology activities. In the afternoon, become an honorary member of the Mola Mola youth Eco-Club. Led by EPI alumni, you’ll participate in conservation service projects such as nest monitoring, bay clean-ups, plastic collection, and other hands-on efforts to protect the amazing wildlife of Galapagos. Your dedicated staff person spends the day in the field with you, helps to customize your itinerary and provides private transport to and from the field site. On this unique tour you have direct access to work with tortoises, normally not provided to other visitors on the islands requiring special permission from the Galapagos National Park. EPI is the only non-profit conservation organization that works directly with the GNP on wild tortoise monitoring.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
