Day 1: Tortuga Bay Conservation

  • 1 Lunch
Enjoy the beautiful beach at Tortuga Bay where Ecology Project International (EPI) students conduct research on nesting green sea turtles in collaboration with the Charles Darwin Research Station. While at Tortuga Bay you'll have the chance to snorkel and take part in a marine species count. Learn about their “Trash Science” project, which raises awareness about the impact of plastics on the environment and gathers information on the surprising amount of plastics generated on the beaches and parks of the Galapagos. Join members of EPI’s Mola Mola youth eco-club on one of their monthly beach/ park clean-ups – they’ll use the data from it to generate information about trash on Santa Cruz Island.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
