Spend the holidays in the Galapagos! Christmas and New Years are excellent times to travel to the Galapagos and reservations must be made months or even years in advance during the holiday season, as cruises fill up far in advance. Cruise around the islands of Floreana, Espanola, San Cristobal, Santa Fe, South Plaza, Seymour, and Genovesa snorkeling with sea lions, marine iguanas, and sea turtles. Hike amongst land iguanas, lava lizards, and the famous Galapagos tortoises on this 8-day cruise!

Day 1: Santa Cruz | Embark

Arrive in Baltra and transfer to your ship, the Galaxy II. Begin your Galapagos adventure with a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Center on Santa Cruz, where you can learn about the protection and conservation of the islands, as well as the breeding, rearing, and protection of Galapagos tortoises.

Day 2: Floreana

Start your day hiking and snorkeling on Punta Cormorant (Cormorant Point), Floreana. Here, you can observe one of the best flamingo lagoons in the Galapagos. The lagoon is situated between two tuff lava cones that give the area a special atmosphere. Besides flamingos, you may also see common stilts, white-checked pintails, and other migratory birds. Then walk along two distinct beaches. One is a green-colored olivine beach, and the other an iron-red beach. 

Head to Post Office Bay in the afternoon, where you can hike, swim, snorkel, and mail a postcard in the same barrel mailbox that British whalers once used!

Day 3: EspaƱola

Begin today on Suarez Point, a rocky area that sustains one of the most varied and impressive colonies of sea birds in the Galapagos, including blue-footed boobies and albatrosses. Climb the high cliffs to get a spectacular view. 

After lunch, hike, swim, and snorkel in the beautiful waters of Gardner Bay. You may even be able to observe sharks in the crystal clear waters.

Day 4: San Cristobal

Spend your morning in the Interpretation Center on San Cristobal. Here, you can learn all about how the islands were formed, ocean currents, the arrival of different species in the Galapagos, and many other natural circumstances that have made the Galapagos Islands what they are today.

In the afternoon tour around the remarkable Leon Dormido / Brujo Hill.

Day 5: Santa Fe | South Plaza

Begin your day exploring the beautiful Santa Fe. Spend the morning swimming and snorkeling in turquoise waters, and hiking along the gorgeous bay. Look for marine tortoises, sea lions, rays, seabirds, and tropical fish! 

After lunch, explore the small island of South Plaza, where you can go on a great hike and find many seabirds, sea lions, and land iguanas.

Day 6: Seymour | Mosquera

Start today hiking along the lovely, rocky shores of North Seymour Island. Here you can find a variety of iguanas, frigate birds, blue-footed boobies, and many other incredible species. 

In the afternoon, sail to Mosquera Islet and find one of the largest sea lion colonies and many different species of birds.

Day 7: Genovesa

Spend today on Genovesa, a birdwatchers paradise. First, swim and walk along the coral beaches of Darwin Bay. There is a small mangrove forest near the beach, where you may find colonies of frigates, red-footed and masked boobies, the great terrestrial finch, herons, sea gulls, and marine iguanas. 

After lunch, hike on Prince Phillip's Steps and observe petrels, common frigates, Galapagos doves, finches, red-footed and masked boobies, and many species of tropical birds.

Day 8: Santa Cruz | Disembark

  • 1 Breakfast
This morning, sail around Punta Carrión (Carrion Point) on Northeastern Santa Cruz, and observe a variety of sea birds nesting in the cliffs. Afterwards, head to the airport and transfer to mainland Ecuador.
