Venture through Greece’s largest port city, Piraeus, as you make your way to the cradle of Western culture. Athens has long since been the location of myth and muse, and its ancient heritage is still an incredible source of inspiration.
White-washed villages and Venetian-inspired mansions shimmer against a dramatic display of turquoise water giving way to an ink-blue sea. Here, alleys bustle with shopping and cafés are close to secluded beaches. Tranquil mountain hikes lead to vestiges of ancient Greek and Byzantine cultures, including mighty Mount Zeus, the highest peak in the Cyclades and home of the king of Greek gods.
Of all the Cyclades Islands, Santorini is often considered the most dramatic with its dark landscape and iconic whitewashed buildings. The rich soil is ideal for grapes and local vines produce a cherished crop known for its special volcanic taste. Picturesque "Thíra," or Fira Town, laid out along the edge of a cliff at the rim of the now-extinct caldera, exudes easy charm.
Day 5: Mandraki, Nisyros Island, Greece | Kos, Greece
The mythological creation of Poseidon as he pursued the giant Polyvotis to the island of Kos, Nisyros is said to have been cleaved from that island and tossed on its own into the Aegean. Today, it’s one of the loveliest jewels of the sea, whose capital of Mandraki offers wild beaches colored with black volcanic pebbles, vibrant squares of dining and shopping, and a trove of cultural riches to explore at the Archaeological and Folklore museums.
Rich in mythological folklore, stepping on to this Aegean isle is like stepping into the pages of classical literature. It was warriors from Kos who fought for Greece in the Trojan War, and Hercules is said to have spent time here, too. The 500-year-old Tree of Hippocrates still stands, beneath which the father of medicine taught his students. Today, the golden beaches and turquoise waters of Kos will inspire your own poetry.
Rich with natural beauty and colorful history, Rhodes represents one of the most architecturally varied locations in Europe. Hellenistic, Byzantine, Medieval and Turkish influences intermingle with abundant sunshine and dry air to cast a magnificent light over the island that the ancients dedicated to Apollo, the God of Light. High on a cliff, the ruins of the Temple of Athena sit amidst the beautifully preserved Acropolis at Lindos.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!

Clara and Rhenee were gracious and available. Phone contact is so important to answer questions and discuss all aspects of trip. If not immediately available they scheduled a time to speak.
They were knowledgeable, honest, realistic and very friendly. They are both very professional and take their role seriously.

The ability (of Kassandra) to tailor a guided trip to my exact preferences is very valuable to me, as well as the ability (of Kassandra) to provide expert guidance on destinations and travel dates. I also appreciate the ability of the backup staff (Maria Ignacio, Exito Travel) to coordinate all the details to make the travel logistics easy for the customer.

Everything worked out smoothly, the excursions guides were knowledgeable allowing us to see so much of the fauna and flora of the country.
