Hafnarfjörður, an attractive harbor city, is located just a few kilometers from the Icelandic capital. Since you get there by sea, observe the fishing boats moored in the bays. As you approach, see the immersed rocks of volcanic origin; in fact, Hafnarfjörður is built on an ancient field of lava flow. In the town center, basalt rocks point you in the direction of the historic houses of Sivertsen and Siggubær: their interiors and period furniture bring old Iceland back to life before your very eyes. Not far from here, you can fill your lungs with sea air by taking the coastal walk, which is well worth it for the beautiful, panoramic views.
Take in the beautiful scenery of Prince Christian Sound as you sail around this waterway that separates the mainland from Sammisoq (Christian IV Island) and other islands of the Cape Farewell Archipelago near the southernmost tip of Greenland.
Narsaq is a striking agricultural town in Greenland situated in a giant fjord system known for hiking, mineral deposits, and cowboy history. The area is a great place to explore, and is full of abundant wildlife including seals, salmon, trout, and whales as well as icebergs from the nearby glacier.
Inhabited by an entire population of Vikings from the 10th century, Nuuk has since become the refuge of Inuit populations. Established at the mouth of one of the world’s largest fjords, Greenland’s capital extends gradually over Davis Strait and boasts a historic center with a particularly rich heritage. The bright reds, blues, greens, and yellows of the houses contrast with the dark waters of Greenland to warm the heart and spirit of local inhabitants during the winter. The rich colors of the tundra mingled with the sea and sky create a stunning picture.
"The most beautiful place in the Arctic" is how Paul-Emile Victor described Greenland. The Eqi Glacier is one of the region’s most impressive sights. Here, the silence is broken only by the roaring and cracking of the ice. It is impossible to know if one is shivering from cold or from the sheer thrill of being here. Imagine the vast outline of a glacier, its translucent crystals glowing with an ice-blue fire in the sunlight. Paul-Emile Victor’s shelter cannot be overlooked; it was from here that the French Polar Expeditions’ anthropological and geographic explorations set off in the 1950s.
The Ilulissat fjord offers an extraordinary spectacle. Embark on an unforgettable adventure aboard a local boat to discover this river of ice. When the light changes as the sun’s angle shifts, the icebergs display strange colors, draping themselves in gold, pink, red, and mauve as off in the distance the houses light up for nightfall. In the isolated bay, the horizon, water, and ice meld together and become one. Experience this timeless adventure and celebrate the immensity of the landscapes Greenland has to offer.
Kangerlussuaq is a settlement on the west coast of Greenland near the end of a fjord of the same name. A former U.S. military base, Kangerlussuaq is the transportation hub for the country today, connecting travelers and locals with other towns in Greenland to international destinations like Copenhagen, Denmark and Iceland. The town is also surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and wildlife. Thousands of musk oxen roam the mountains and valleys near the town, which are accessible by hiking trails.

Everything was amazing! The planning with Adventure Life went smoothly. The actual trip was fantastic! One of the best trips I have experienced. The cruise staff members were knowledgeable and attentive. I will be writing more about this on the blog!

Adventure Life has been an extraordinary travel resource for us over the years and today was no exception. Our River Cruise booking was handled by Jess (who has been our personal trip planner for several years) the same day as our inquiry. Suggestions were given for cabin choice and pre-trip options (that were not shown on the cruise line's website) like airport transfers and prepaid gratuities. Trip insurance recommendations followed and we were assigned a travel co-ordinator till the end of the tour. All we have to do is show up! Great service from friendly folks.

Our travel was flawless! The rider pickup (airport, hotel, ship) was seamless. Jane's recommendation for Emerald Cruise Sakara was everything I wanted but the experience was soooo much more. Adventure Life took care of each and every detail and this was the easiest of all my travels.
