Named one of National Geographic Travelers' 50 Tours of a Lifetime, this 14-day voyage of 3 Arctic islands is not one to miss! Begin in Spitsbergen - a must for those who want to see the Arctic in all its wildness and splendor. Explore the world's largest fjord system – Scorsebysund – in East Greenland. The last port of call is Iceland, a place where ice and fire meet together to form unearthly landscapes of lava, glaciers and boiling mud pots, geothermal springs, and thundering waterfalls.

Day 1

Embark in Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen

Longyearbyen is the main settlement of the Norwegian Spitsbergen archipelago. This Arctic town, located at 78° north, is one of the world’s northernmost communities. It has approximately 2,000 inhabitants and is a modern place with a wide range of facilities such as a supermarket, outdoor shops, several pubs, and hotels.

Before embarking, there is an opportunity to stroll around this former mining town, whose parish church and Polar Museum are well worth visiting. In the early evening the ship sets sail out of Isfjorden.

Days 2-5

  • Ship
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

West Spitsbergen

During these days have the chance to explore the western coast of Spitsbergen. Spitsbergen is a perfect place to begin your Arctic adventure. At the same time, the warm Gulf Stream maintains a remarkably mild climate which sustains a lush and vibrant ecosystem featuring flora, bird life, and Arctic mammals. In fact, the archipelago is one of the best places to observe polar bears. With a reserved place in the history of Arctic exploration and photography, Spitsbergen also offers numerous historic sites where travelers can identify the tragedy and triumph of past North Pole explorers.

Days 6-7

  • Ship
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Sailing the Greenland Sea

As your ship cruises the Greenland Sea, spend your days relaxing on the ship deck while enjoying the magnificent Arctic beauty, or by taking advantage of your ship's numerous amenities as you prepare for the next leg of your journey.

Days 8-12

  • Ship
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Eastern Greenland

During these four days explore the world’s largest, and some say most beautiful, fjord system: Scorsebysund in East Greenland. Renowned for its terrific mountain peaks, granite walls, and one of the most impressive icebergs, Scorsebysund contains the most productive glacier draining east from the Greenland Ice Sheet.

Plan to visit the most northerly community in East Greenland, Itoqqortoormitt, where you can meet Inuit people and get to know their unique culture first hand.

Day 13

  • Ship
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Sailing the Denmark Strait

Your final day on board the Sea Spirit is spent sailing through the Denmark Strait. Today you have ample time to reflect on the beauty and mystery of the Arctic. Share memories and photos with fellow travelers as you journey homeward.

Day 14

  • Breakfast

Disembark in Akureyri, Iceland
