Fly Quito - Cuenca

Mansion del Angel, Quito

After a 45 minutes flight, we landed in Cuenca, the flight was a good start... all those volcanoes below as welcoming us to our fast journey. Cuenca, so beautiful. Don't want to waste a minute so we run to the Cajas National Park.

This special place is surrounded by lakes (230 total!!!). The sun plays with the shadows over the mountains... each step is full of good energies. The Polilepis trees make you feel as if you are part of a fairytale. Back in Cuenca, we decided to visit a great museum, it is Pumapungo, there you can find archeology, colonial art, culture of the country. Great choice!

Full day in Ingapirca

Hotel Crespo, Cuenca

The two and a half hours from Cuenca are worth it! Ingapirca is an Inca fortress hidden between the Andes. Our guide makes it alive again!! What a culture. Landscapes around encourage you to continue the visit around the archeological site full of walls, rooms, pools. On the way back, we find towns with magnificent churches and typical food decorating the highway... we stopped.

Cuenca and back to Quito in the afternoon

Mansion del Angel, Quito

When you visit Cuenca you understand why is was chosen as a World Cultural Heritage Site on 1999: the cobblestone streets, the churches, old buildings, convents, etc. The people provide the unforgettable touch of a charming city. I could definitely spend more time here.

In order to not waste time, we run to a "Hat factory". I couldn't believe it when I saw that you can pay for a hat made that minute just for you... amazing. We waited at the coffee shop there saying goodbye to the Tomebamba River that decorates this beautiful city. Time to go back to Quito and enjoy the view of the sunset over the Andes.
