Trip of a Life Time

By : Joseph Oetomo
Trip Begins October 1, 2011
Trip Ends October 31, 2011

It has been for sometime that I've wanted to see Machu Picchu. This year I heard that Machu Picchu was celebrating its 100th year anniversary of its re-discovery and I told myself that it will be the best time to visit. Since it is a long way anyway, I have to visit other South American countries since I don't know whether I will ever visit this region again. When the consultant at Adventure Life asked me my plan, I told her that I wanted to visit Machu Pichu, Iguazu Falls, Torres del Paine, and El Calafate. It has been a smooth trip and I have been lucky most of the time with the weather. I really fell for Torres del Paine. It is just such a beautiful place.

Trip Summary

Sao Paulo

It has been for sometime that I've wanted to see Machu Picchu. However, from Asia, South America is really far away. The flight alone will be one full day. This year I heard that Machu Picchu was celebrating its 100th year anniversary of its re-discovery and I told myself that it will be the best time to visit. Since it is a long way anyway, I have to visit other South American countries since I don't know whether I will ever visit this region again. Incidentally, Lonely Planet magazine, Asian edition, published an article on Argentina and it suggested a few places. I skipped 2 of the 5 recommended since I am not a wine drinker and I am not too fond of spending time at a ranch. When the consultant at Adventure Life asked me my plan, I told her that I wanted to visit Machu Pichu, Iguazu Falls, Torres del Paine, and El Calafate. They then become the core of my trip. I then spent a week in Europe on my way back to Asia in Paris and London. It has been a smooth trip and I have been lucky most of the time with the weather. I really fell for Torres del Paine. It is just such a beautiful place. I just wish that I could do the W trek there next time, especially to visit the French Valley.
