Valizas is a small village by the sea where the boundaries of the countryside, stream, ocean, and sand dunes meet. While growing as a travel destination, Valizas has retained a Bohemian and mystical character with its local fishermen, neighborly residents, grass and sand streets, picturesque “ranchos”, and dynamic stream (where a “chalana” barge crosses towards the sand dunes).

The enormous sand dunes are one of the town’s greatest attractions. Many visitors choose to trek to the Cerro Buena Vista, crossing the sand dunes into Cabo Polonio. Other popular activities include biking, canoeing, whale and bird watching, surfing and kitesurfing, fishing, tours to Ombú forest, and various horseback riding excursions. Sandboarding on Buena Vista Mount, a granite formation covered by sand, is an extreme sports option similar to snowboarding for those who enjoy an adrenaline rush. In Valizas, local arts and crafts are sold along the main street in addition to an artisan’s square - a lively night market with candlelight, bonfires, and drum music.
