Set off to discover some of the most romantic destinations across the Mediterranean. Le Lyrial takes you on an unforgettable sailing expedition across three magical countries. Cadiz in Andalusia is your first port of call. Built on a rock and surrounded by the sea, it is one of the country’s oldest cities. The voyage continues towards Motril and Malaga, with an opportunity to visit the magnificent Alhambra palace in Grenada. Then head to Morocco’s Tangier, the mythical port of call of so many artists, then Casablanca, the so-called “white city”, where tradition and modernity mingle. Here you can discover the impressive Hassan II Mosque, considered to be one of the largest religious buildings in the world. The last port of call of your cruise is the Canary Islands.

Day 1: Lisbon, Portugal | Embark

Portugal’s capital city located on the banks of the Tagus, only a few kilometers from the Atlantic coast, is a city of exceptionally rich cultural diversity. At the mouth of the river harbor impose two UNESCO World Heritage monuments, Jeronimos monastery and Belem tower. Sample the local delicacies such as the pasteis de nata—delicious creamy bakery flans. On the Alfama hillside, as you explore the Moorish streets, you may well hear sounds of fado drifting from the bars. Along Chiado’s elegant streets, big fashion labels entice in you a bit of luxury shopping.

Day 2-3: Cadiz

  • Ship
  • 2 Breakfasts, 2 Lunches, 2 Dinners
Andalucia’s Cadiz is located on the Costa de la Luz, in the southwest of Spain. From the beaches of Cortadura, to the flamenco bars of Santa Maria, through the colorful streets of la Viña, be amazed by this city, which is both steeped in history and extremely festive. In the medieval El Pópulo district, stroll along covered passages in the narrow gaps between houses. You are also able to mosey around the lush Mina square. The star of the show is the magnificent cathedral and its dome crowned with yellow porcelain, presiding above the Ocean.

Day 4: Motril | Malaga

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
On the shores of the Mediterranean, Motril enjoys a special place on the Costa Tropical. Sheltered from the cold northerly winds thanks to the mountains that surround this Andalusian city, you can make the most of the ideal micro-climate by enjoying a dip in the sea when the group explores a wide variety of beaches located around the city.

A historical and festive town, Malaga is located in Andalusia, on the Costa del Sol. Between the marina and the beaches, you can stroll at your leisure along the seaside promenade of la Farola. Look out for the Malahgueta bullring, set slightly further back. From the hill overlooking the old town, see Gibralfaro castle and the Alcazaba, two fortified ensembles rising out from the cypresses and maritime pines. To visit Pablo Picasso’s birthplace, first make for the courtly plaza de la Merced. A few streets back from here, you can explore the museum dedicated to the artist, in the Buenavista palace.

Day 5: Tangier

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Nestled in the Bay of Tangier, this bewitching Moroccan city lies at the northwestern tip of the country, along the famous Strait of Gibraltar. Following in the footsteps of the writers and artists inspired and seduced by the city’s climate and setting, you’ll love its rich landscapes and multicultural charm. You can instantly understand as soon as you set foot in the heart of the Medina. An architectural masterpiece, the Kasbah is your gateway to the Sultan’s Palace and its gardens. If you prefer beaches to museums, you can relax just a few minutes from the city on the beautiful sweep of sand bathed by the Atlantic Ocean.

Day 6-7: Casablanca

  • Ship
  • 2 Breakfasts, 2 Lunches, 2 Dinners
Situated along the Atlantic coast, Casablanca is the very image of contemporary Morocco: Westernized and cosmopolitan. Exploring the architectural heritage of the “White City” tells you all you need to know about its cultural and historical diversity. Breathtaking highlights include the majestic Hassan II Mosque, considered to be one of the greatest religious buildings in the world. You can explore the narrow alleys of the old Medina, which stand in sharp contrast to the surrounding modern architecture. To get the most from the seafront, the Ain Diab Corniche provides a pleasant place for strolling with easy access to the beach.

Day 8: At Sea

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner

Day 9: Santa Cruz de Tenerife | Disembark

  • 1 Breakfast
The capital city of Tenerife is located on the northeast coast of the island. Close to the port is the monumental Plaza de España, bedecked with a fountain and plant sculptures. Around the plaza, you can admire the white marble Triunfo de la Candelaria obelisk, the historic casino of Santa Cruz, and the majestic Guimerà theatre. Not far from here, the picturesque Iglesia de la Concepción church features the characteristic traits of Canaries architecture.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
