Day 1: Venice, Italy | Embark

Embark this afternoon aboard the SeaDream II.

Venice has been known as the "Queen of the Adriatic," "City of Water," "City of Masks," "City of Bridges," "The Floating City," and "City of Canals." Luigi Barzini, writing in the New York Times, described it as "undoubtedly the most beautiful city built by man." Venice has also been described by the Times Online as being one of Europe's most romantic cities. Founded in the 5th century, the city stretches across 118 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic. In 1987, Venice and its lagoon was inscribed as a UNESCO Heritage site. SeaDream typically docks at the San Basilio pier after navigating by the famous St. Mark’s Square down the grand canal. With its yacht stature, SeaDream vessels are among the very few commercial vessels that can navigate this famous waterway.

Day 2: Hvar, Croatia

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
The island of Hvar is somewhat unusual as it is blessed with a large fertile coastal plain and fresh water springs. Its hillsides are covered in pine forests, with vineyards, olive groves, fruit orchards and lavender fields in the agricultural areas. The climate is characterized by mild winters and warm summers with many hours of sunshine. Guests have an option to kayak down the coastline on one of the land adventures or take an independent hike up to the fortress to have some incredible views of the picturesque harbor. You also have an option to bike across the island to Starigrad and meet up with other guests on the land adventure called “The Best of Both Worlds."

Day 3: Hvar | Vis Island, Croatia

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
This island holds a host of accolades, from being the oldest town in Croatia and hosting the oldest regatta in Europe, to featuring some of the most beautiful beaches in the country. With a picturesque coastline, it is easy to see why Vis was selected as the backdrop for the 2018 feature film “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.” The farthest inhabited island off the Croatian mainland, Vis has an interesting cultural heritage after being secluded from foreign visitors up until the late 1980s. This history of isolation has been key in keeping the island pure, making Vis an ideal destination for those seeking authenticity.

Day 4: Dubrovnik, Croatia

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Dubrovnik (Pearl of the Adriatic) is one of the most prominent destinations in the Adriatic Sea. It lies in the region of Dalmatia and was awarded World Unesco Heritage status in 1979. The population is approximately 43,000, and it is considered to be among the 10 best medieval walled cities in the world. SeaDream anchors off the walled city as a port of call and tenders directly to the town gate. If you check the land adventures here, you will find that there are many different excursions to consider in this incredible town.

Day 5-6: Corfu, Greece

  • Ship
  • 2 Breakfasts, 2 Lunches, 2 Dinners
Corfu is the second largest Greek island in the Ionian Sea and considered to be the greenest. The municipality includes the island of Corfu and the smaller islands of Ereikoussa, Mathraki and Othonoi. Its Greek name, Kerkyra or Korkyra, is related to two powerful water symbols: Poseidon, god of the sea, and Asopos, an important Greek mainland river. In 2007, the island's old town was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. SeaDream docks at the cruise port and offers guests an assortment of varied land adventures. A shuttle bus will be arranged to the old town, and the mountain bikes will be available for independent exploration. Perhaps the most popular attraction on the island other than the impressive old town is the Achillion Palace, the summer palace of Austria’s Empress Elizabeth. It truly is worth exploring.

SeaDream has put together most of the sights into one adventure called “Discovering the Island of Love” There’s also some great hikes available on the island, so check with the activities team on board for details.

Day 11: Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Civitavecchia is a major port located in Rome, primarily utilized for maritime transportation of goods, as well as a fishing port. The commune’s name means “ancient town” and is one of the “motorways of the sea” in the Mediterranean, functioning as one of the main links between the mainland of Italy and the island of Sardinia. The ancient name of the port was “Centumcellae,” first mentioned in a letter written by Pliny the Younger in 107 A.D., although scholars debate on whether the name was about the number of rooms of the Trajan Villa or the number of natural creeks on the coast. Civitavecchia is a part of the Lazio Territory, an area which was confirmed to have social groups since pre-historic times, and the modern town was built over a pre-existing settlement of the Etruscan people in 107-108 B.C.E. (who debated to have founded Rome). In the beginning of the 2nd century, the harbor and town of Centumcellae were simultaneously developed by Emperor Trajan in the territory of Aquae Tauri. As the town became more popular for ships traveling westbound, the Thermal Baths were constructed on the hill of Ficoncella. Centumcellae flourished in the Imperial Age, and by 538 A.D., it had become a Byzantine stronghold. In 728 A.D., it became a member of the Papal States. The Saracens raided Centumcellae many times in the 9th century, prompting Pope Leo VII to have a newer and more secure settlement built by 854. The town, then known as Civita Vetula, was under the rule of several lords, and the Popes temporarily lost control during the French Rule in 1798-1815. In 1870, it entered the Kingdom of Italy. Civitavecchia was severely damaged during WWII, destroying many of the ancient monuments, including Forte Michelangelo, which would be rebuilt in the 1950s. Popular points of interest include the Forte Michelangelo, Terme Taurine, and Cattedrale di San Francesco. There is a wealth of Roman and Vatican architecture and tourists are encouraged to visit many of the museums and take the cultural tours available in this important sea port.

Day 12: Bonifacio, Corsica, France

Its glistening blue coastline is varied and dramatic with several rocky coves and sandy beaches as well as numerous grottos, caves and craggy cliffs. The island has crystal clear waters and is ideal for sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.” The movie "Under the Tuscan Sun" and several others have been shot on location here. Besides the incredibly romantic atmosphere, it offers excellent shopping, beautiful beaches, hiking trails and a few world-recognized and award-winning hotels, such as Le Sirenuse and Il San Pietro di Positano, among others.
