The invention of the steamship helped usher in the Golden Age of travel, which lasted from the turn of the 20th century until World War II. Today, a transatlantic crossing aboard a luxury vessel allows modern travelers to recall those romantic days of old. With days at sea, you can truly relax, indulging yourself as you please and letting go of everyday cares. Aboard the m/v Tere Moana, your extraordinary all-inclusive value includes gourmet dining, live piano entertainment, and a host of amenities, from the onboard pool and fitness center to free use of our reading and DVD library. Or perhaps you’ll take advantage of optional treatments at our luxurious spa. Your classic Caribbean voyage will also be punctuated with memorable port calls at Isla de la Palma—nicknamed "Isla Bonita" ("Beautiful Island")—in the Canary Islands and at Madeira, the “floating garden of the Atlantic,” as you journey from St. Maarten in the Caribbean to the shores of the storied Portuguese capital, Lisbon.

Day 1

Embark in St Martin, F.W.I.

The smallest island in the world to have been partitioned between two nations (France and the Netherlands), St. Martin/St. Maarten has prospered in peaceful coexistence for nearly 350 years. Embark the Tere Moana on the Dutch side of the island, St. Maarten, where you can enjoy snorkeling or windsurfing, bask on the fine beaches, visit the Zoological Botanical Garden, and haggle at the duty-free shops of the capital city Philipsburg.

Days 2-9

  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

At Sea

A transatlantic crossing is one of the great traditions of cruising. The advent of the steamship during the 19th century made seafaring far safer than the sailing vessels of old and helped pave the way for the Golden Age of travel at the turn of the century. It was during this era that the idea of travel for pleasure was popularized, and crossing the sea aboard a luxury ship became a destination in itself.

Now you can relive this romantic era aboard a deluxe vessel that recalls the luxury of those distant days. The Tere Moana has been thoroughly refurbished with your comfort in mind, offering spacious staterooms, elegant dining areas, and a host of amenities to while away the days at sea. Enjoy a massage at the luxurious spa. Pick up a souvenir at La Boutique. Take a dip in the pool. Or simply choose to do nothing at all!

Day 10

  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Santa Cruz de La Palma, Canary Islands

Tere Moana moors today at Isla de la Palma, northwesternmost of the seven Canary Islands. A paradise off the northwest coast of Africa, this archipelago boasts a unique culture that blends Spanish, African, Latin American, and European influences. In Santa Cruz de La Palma, located against a mountainous backdrop on the island’s east coast, admire elegant colonial architecture, stroll a cobbled promenade lined with shops and cafés, or visit a replica of Columbus’ famous ship, the Santa Maria.

At Sea

Relax to the rhythms of the sea today as Tere Moana heads toward Madeira, the Portuguese archipelago northwest of the Canary Islands that has been dubbed the “Floating Garden of the Atlantic.” Perhaps you’ll work out at the ship’s Fitness Center. Or simply curl up in a deck chair with a book from the onboard reading gallery.

Day 12

Madeira, Portugal

As soon as Tere Moana enters the stunning azure harbor of Funchal, the capital of Madeira, you’ll see why the approach to the city is considered one of the two most beautiful in the world (the other being Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). In this clean, crescent-shaped city, flowers bloom year-round, exquisite scenery greets the eye at every turn, and balmy breezes blow. While here, enjoy the plentiful walking trails, watersports, and dazzling shops, restaurants, and nightlife of this sophisticated urban center borne of a pirate stronghold.
