Arrive from your group flight and enjoy a market visit and temple tour en-route to Belmond Road to Mandalay, berthed at the private jetty near Old Bagan. Enjoy lunch on board and then disembark for a tour of Ananda, one of Bagan’s most magnificent temples. Continue on to a lesser-known temple, which you can explore by torchlight. Tonight, dine under the stars at the Road to Mandalay Grill on the Observation Deck.

Day 2 Bagan & Cruise

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Before setting sail embark on the morning adventure of your choice. Select from a sunrise temple tour, a visit to a local community project, or a bicycle or horse-and-cart ride around Old Bagan. An inspiring hot-air balloon flight is also available at an additional supplement. As the ship continues on, there are a range of onboard activities to keep you entertained. Relax by the pool on the Observation Deck, the largest outdoor space of any river cruise ship in Myanmar, or keep fit in the gym. Sample local infusions and delicacies in the Burmese Tea Shop and examine an exhibition of work from a local artist. In the evening you are invited to don a longyi for a special cocktail party before sitting down to dine on a selection of Asian and Western dishes in the elegant restaurant.

Day 3 Mingun

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Arrive this morning at Myin Mu, a charming riverside town just 30 miles south of Mandalay. Join your guides to explore the area by trishaw. Highlights include visits to a bustling market, a traditional Burmese slipper producer, and a family of bamboo weavers. Return to the ship for lunch, then set off to the picturesque farming village of Alacapa. Walk around the town and get a rare insight into local life. The villagers grow a variety of crops here, including corn, sesame, chilli peppers and fava beans. Back on the ship, anticipate traditional entertainment after dinner.

Continuing on encounter the famous U Bein Bridge and the Sagaing Hills, where you have a rare opportunity to visit a nunnery. Alternatively head off to discover Monywa, a town on the Chindwin River that is often missed by tourists. This remote area is home to the world’s tallest standing Buddha statue. Also explore the brightly-colored Thanbuddhay Temple and visit a small thanaka market. Back on board, the chef has been preparing a spectacular farewell feast.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
