The Bastimentos Island National Marine Park in Bocas del Toro Province is the country’s premiere marine park and includes part of Bastimentos Island and the Zapatillas Keys. Its 13,226 hectares make up one of Panama’s largest and most beautiful marine habitats. The reefs, mangroves, nesting beaches and lagoons of its southern coast are key to the survival of many valuable species of marine life. It’s remote location provides an ideal Caribbean refuge for endangered species. Four species of sea turtles lay their eggs on these beaches between March and September.
The great rivers of Chagres and Volcán Barú National Parks have three and four-degree rapids, as defined by the international classification from level of difficulty, and will take you on an adventure through the rain forest.
