Day 1: Arrive Buenos Aires

Arrive to Argentina today on the flight of your choice and transfer to your comfortable hotel.   Buenos Aires, the country's largest city, is famous for its colorful neighborhoods and amazing architecture. Spend your free time exploring the city, or simply relax after your long international flight.  Tonight enjoy a welcome dinner with your group and guide!

Day 2: Meet the City | Dinner and Tango Show

  • Hotel
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Tour the exciting and seductive city of Buenos Aires! This tour includes a bilingual guide and visits to typical neighborhoods like La Boca, Palermo, Recoleta, as well as the Colon Theater, the National Congress and the Presidential Palace. Experience the highlights of Buenos Aires, and gain an appreciation for this great city. This is the perfect introduction to some main sites of interest. Stop for a typical Argentinian lunch along the way.

It is hard to imagine a visit to Buenos Aires without attending a tango show. In the evening, your driver will meet you at your hotel and whisk you away to one of the city’s most famous events! At Esquina Carlos Gardel, experience the intimate dance that unifies the city and its people together in a passionate embrace. The tango expresses the heart and the spirit of Argentina. The night includes dinner and a drink, as well as the transfers to and from the show.

Day 3: Fly to El Calafate

  • Hotel
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Today you will fly to the lively town of El Calafate. Head to the working sheep ranch of El Galpon del Glaciar.  The estancia is warm and welcoming with delicious homemade food, located just 15 minutes from downtown El Calafate. The rustic homestead resides in the Patagonian Steppe, a unique ecosystem of rivers, lakes and lagoons with amazing views of the Andes. While at the homestead, visit the nature reserve and enjoy its many trails - over 40 species of migrating birds pass through here, so keep your eyes skyward! El Galpon del Glaciar is also a working ranch, so you'll have the opportunity to tour the shearing sheds and watch the working sheepdogs in action. For those who want to explore by horseback this is also an option - just let us know!

Day 4: Perito Moreno Glacier

  • Hotel
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Today visit Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the largest advancing glaciers in South America (more than 3 miles wide at its front and over 20 stories high). Depart from the estancia early in the morning, allowing you to enjoy the landscape, flora and fauna, before the park becomes too busy. Explore the footbridges and balconies, over 5000 feet of walkways that expand near the face of the glacier. Listen as the great masses of ice crash into the lake with resounding roars. Your guide will share with you information about the surrounding forest, glaciation in the area, and about the birdlife.

Take a ferry trip in the Canal de los Tempanos on the north face of the Perito Moreno Glacier, passing beside icebergs which have calved off the front of the glacier. The boat will stop at a safe distance, continuing to sail down its entire front and allowing spectacular views of the high wall of ice. This provides a totally different perspective of the Perito Moreno Glacier, with almost constant falling walls of ice from its front.  This is a unique opportunity for photographers and nature lovers alike.  Return to El Galpon after your tour. The rest of your day is free to relax or explore the grounds.

Day 5: Transfer to EcoCamp

  • Hotel
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Today, it's off to Chile!  Depart from the Estancia for the eight hour scenic drive to Torres del Paine National Park. Along the way, enjoy the magnificent geography of the region as you drive through the mountains, passing stunning lakes and winding rivers. Arrive at EcoCamp, a deluxe camp of large geodesic-dome yurts built to minimize environmental impact while providing a comfortable setting. Your suite domes at EcoCamp feature electricity, feather comforters, ensuite bathroom, wood burning stove and plenty of quiet to enjoy your spectacular surroundings.

Day 6-7: Torres del Paine National Park

  • Hotel
  • 2 Breakfasts, 2 Lunches, 2 Dinners
For your first full day at EcoCamp, set off with your guide across the park to Grey Glacier. Along the way, stop to visit the Salto Grande waterfall and take a quick hike (one hour roundtrip) to the Mirador Nordenskjold for stunning views of Los Cuernos and the French Valley. In the afternoon, board a ferry and set off across the Lago Grey for amazing views of the towering blue walls of Grey Glacier.

On January 15, after a hearty breakfast, venture up Ascencio Valley on the Tower's eastern face. Climb the steep moraine to the foot of the gigantic spires of Torres del Paine. Weather permitting, witness one of the most famous views of Torres del Paine - the three granite monoliths reaching 9,400ft (2,900 m) - a testament to the massive glacial forces that carved them out of the earth.

Or you may choose your day's activities from a daily menu based on your interests and energy level. Options range from easy-paced to strenuous hikes or even cycling tours. Click here for the weekly excursion schedule.

Day 8: Punta Arenas

  • Hotel

Arrive to Punta Arenas in the mid-afternoon with the rest of the day free to explore the town.  Enjoy a dinner tonight with your group to say adios to Patagonia.

Day 9: Magdalena Island Penguin Colony | Fly Santiago

Take a morning zodiac trip from Punta Arenas through the Strait of Magellan to Magdalena Island, where you will see over 100,000 Magellanic penguins!  Spend your time along the shore of the island, or take a walk to the lighthouse located up a winding trail through the penguin colony.  Return to Punta Arenas to enjoy lunch together on the pier before transferring to the airport for your flight to Santiago.
