At 9am, Anhil our guide for the day, picked-us up. First we drove to the “Reserva Geobotanica Pululahua”, an old volcano transformed into a green valley after several thousand years. Then we went to “La Mitad del Mundo”. It is a nice site, if you go to Ecuador you simply cannot miss this place – now we have bragging rights to say we walked the middle of Earth ! Actually, the site is 240 meters away from the true center of the earth… but who cares!! We visited all around Quito: Old town (Centro Historico), Plaza Grande, Calle Sucre and the Church (Iglesia de la Compania de Jesus), the Plaza and Monastery San Francisco, El Panecillo and the Virgen of Quito with an overview of the city, and the Basilica del Voto Nacional. It was a great day of touring and discovering Quito. We ended the day dining at the JW Marriott 2 blocks from our hotel and then called it a day.
