As travelers, it's important that your trip has a positive impact on your destination, and one of the best ways to do this is by volunteering on a project in the Sacred Valley. Adventure Life's special relationship with the Cachiccata community in the shadow of Machu Picchu's Inca Trail near Ollantaytambo in Peru's Sacred Valley consistently benefits the community. Many times per year, individuals or groups participate in projects such as community trash pickups, reforesting with native trees, restoring houses of the poorest residents, or distributing personal hygiene products to those in need. Volunteering can be done as a dedicated, 5 or 10-day trip, or as a quick day tour on your way to Machu Picchu. Contact one of Adventure Life's Peru volunteering experts to find the perfect volunteer opportunity.

Sacred Valley Community Clean-Up

2 Day Itinerary
Modernization is extending into the Andes and impacts the local communities. One negative consequence is an increase in post-consumer waste. Without adequate disposal options in these rural communities, household garbage accumulates and is scattered around the countryside. Our service project will allow travelers to go into the community and help families collect waste, separate it based on recyclables, biodegradable/compostable waste, and disposable garbage and educate and promote composting and recycling efforts in Cachicatta.

Sacred Valley Home Restoration

4 Day Itinerary
Adventure Life's guides and partners has identified the poorest families in the Cachiccata community. The elements can cause damage to homes over time, and many families do not have the extra means to make renovations to their homes. During this 4 day/3 night trip, participants, side-by-side with the family members, will work on cleaning, repairing, and restoring their homes. We stay in the community campground each night to immerse ourselves in the village life.
