A great travel isn\'t what one sees or does, but how it embeds itself into your soul, long after the last shot has been taken. The Antarctic is the ultimate visceral experience, exceeding and earning every cliche and superlative thrown its way.

If you are looking for things to do in Ushuaia while you await the next part of your trip, the Martial Glacier is a good option. It is about 7km outside of downtown Ushuaia. The view from the mountains outside the town are wonderful and make this trek worth taking. There are some great photo opportunities as well.

We went on a tour with a group to San Ignacio Ruins, near Iguazu Falls in Argentina. It was the built by the Jesuits in the 1600s in order to convert the Guarani people and establish a presence in Latin America. Walking through the ruins, it was interesting to think we were in the setting of the movie \"The Mission\".

Tierra del Fuego National Park

Overlooking the park

Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego lies just north of Ushuaia and is Argentina\'s first coastal national park. We spent a day exploring the trails and relaxing. We wandered along the coastal path, taking in all the wildlife. It was about a 3 1/2 hour hike that took us through the forests. We finished the walk at Lake Roca in time for lunch. What a wonderful day! I\'ve never seen so many different kinds of trees!

On our Argentina tour, we made an excursion to explored the Iguazu Falls. I was amazed that over 275 cascades make up the falls. We took a boat out to see the falls from below and were showered by the mists even though we stayed at a safe distance. Water can be such a powerful, awe-inspiring force. During our time afterwards we also visited the subtropical rainforest and discovered the flowers, butterflies, birds and more! Definitely a must see on our tour.

We trekked through the diverse landscape on our way to the towers - Las Torres del Paine. Amid snow and mist, it was a wonderful feeling seeing those grand statues towering above us - made by nature\'s hand. There\'s no room for the timid here! What an amazing trek!

Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world, a must-see Patagonia travel stop. With previous incarnations as a missionary outpost and, subsequently, a prison town, Ushuaia is now most well-known as the \"Gateway to Antarctica.\" From its dramatic setting between the Beagle Channel and the rugged glaciated peaks rising from the landscape, opportunities for hiking and exploring abound. We wander through local museums and explore nearby trails in the afternoon.

Northwest Trek in Argentina

My Photos : Sergio Yapura
Following the guide through the various terrain we come upon amazing mountains and valleys with vibrant colors. The history of the area is intriguing as we discover the cultural legacy of the ancient Incas, Diaguita, and the Spanish conquistadors, set against the backdrop of the magnificent peaks of the Andes. We hike through deep gorges, and climb dramatic mountain passes as we trek across Northwestern Argentina!

Ecocamp Patagonia

My Photos : Daniel Sanhueza
Ecocamp in Torres del Paine National Park In this world of vanishing wilderness, we invite you to explore our remote Patagonia with the least ecological impact possible; to trek in virgin beech forests; to admire colossal calving glaciers; to think and wonder about humankind while standing at the foot of the towering granite peaks of the Torres del Paine; to sit in total silence under the Southern Cross; and to share a glass of wine with new friends
